Carabao Cup 25/26

Let’s hope Man City don’t park the bus at Wembley otherwise we’re going to have to listen to Neville go on about how boring and predictable our style of football is, which is ironic because there is nothing more boring or predictable than Neville droning on about us.

Preferred playing City rather than Newcastle in the final, as the toons would’ve raised their game like crazy like they did last season. City’s defense quite suspect too. Feel like we can bring this home.

That team fucking hell. No wonder I always forget we were even in this final

Wenger experimenting with three at a back, the final (and rather sad) sign he was finished.

It is the only time I’ve seen us lose a match at Wembley. Wasn’t even a close contest!

Chambers and Mustafi in defence, what could go wrong?
It shows is how poor Wenger was at buying defenders.

I had no clue we were in the league cup final that season

:trossard2:

My memory of those final Wenger years is horrible. Didn’t watch most of the games at the time tbh.

Ohh, NOW I remember that game lol.

Was just killed too early too easy. That’s why I forgot about it.

We weren’t in the same league with them at the time. No constest there. Took us a few years just get on that level where we won’t embarrass ourselves in those games anymore.

The 2007 League Cup final is the one I still have in good memory. Started with a pretty mixed team, against a pretty much strongest Chelsea XI. Were better than them for the most part and just lost narrowly. Walcott scored his first ever goal for us there I think, was a good finish.

Plus the Terry near death experience and the fight at the end just to give an extra touch on everything.

Edit

It was even more mixed than I thought. One of the reasons I still firlmy believed at that time Wenger was the best manager in the world. Could bring out something special out of mediocre players.

That Chelsea XI tho

Crazy, that Arsenal backline had to go up against 8 world-class players..

I would love to see our 25/26 team against that lot.

good times

Always bothered me how Wenger couldn’t really understand a lot of the players he signed in the second half of his Arsenal career. Baptista was never a striker and then we brought him in and made him play 4th choice striker.

His best moments were always starting from outside the box and he had an excellent sense of when to make that run from midfield into dangerous goalscoring positions.

Got my annual Baptista talk out the way early this year lol
