Bukayo Saka (7)

Ditto lol

It’s absolutely Gabriel’s mistake but there’s no world where a looping ball across the defensive line / your own box is ever the right pass to make.

Yeah, looking at the situation again (for the 113th time) I’ve missed their RW/RAM, while being mostly focused on Mitrovic. He had the opportunity to put a lot of pressure on Gabriel if he decided to press him when Saka made the pass. He was maybe even in a better situation to press him than Mitrovic.

Yeah, that actually makes Saka’s pass look very very risky. Yeah, you could also add Mitrovic being one of the slowest number 9s in the league, a faster player would make that look even worse.

Yeah, I was wrong about Saka. :santi: His decision in general was risky and not the greatest, because the potential danger in some other circumstances, but in this specific situation all the blame again is on Gabriel - their RW didn’t press him, and Mitrovic, being slow AF, gave him all the time in the world do literally anything he wanted with the ball, except for what he did.

It’s 100% the mistake of Gabriel.

At what point has anybody denied that it was Gabriel’s mistake? Some people are just having dialect about whether Saka should have made that pass to begin with that’s a separate discussion and doesn’t exonerate Gabriel’s obvious mistake.

It was a low risk pass from Saka. Gabriel was able to miscontrol the ball and take three sloppy touches.

It isn’t as if he (Saka) played the ball across a crowded box.

Have to disagree. Its was a very clever pass to keep us in possession. Gabriel had no Fulham player near him and had a good 4-5 seconds to make a good decision before Mitrovic got close to him.

Its passes like these we need to make if we want to become a side who can keep possesion anywhere on the field.

Normally you learn never to play loftet passes across your own box. This one is different though, because gabriel is left with acres of space. Him being a donkey shouldnt fall back on Saka.

Here’s our own manager agreeing Gabriel shouldn’t have been put in that position in the first place.

“That’s clear”

Both are at fault.

It took multiple fuck ups from Gabriel in regards to disgusting first touch, then dwelling on the ball for ages etc…

I won’t be holding Bukayo accountable for it at all.

It can be Gabriel’s fuckup and the pass can also be less than ideal. The two are not mutually exclusive lol

Arteta taking the pressure off Gabriel by laying some on Saka imo.

I felt like Saka had a weak performance relatively speaking yesterday.

I wonder if he needs a rest to allow him to get that extra spring back in his step.

Saka isn’t predictable. It’s just how it is with wingers…you either go inside, outside, or lay the ball off.

When Saka is on the ball, he needs options too. If he’s isolated, then he gets in a duel with the fullback, or even doubled up on.

No winger beats their man over and over again for 90 mins. It’s not feasible.

It was not a perfect scenario, maybe not the best option,
However, it is always about risk taking and taking opportunities.
It was a really low risk option to pass to Gabriel as he was super wide open.
When someone made a mistake, everything will be put under the microscope, and it was unfortunate for Bukayo.

If Gabriel did not fuck up, which he should not, it was the perfect pass for change of direction and kept the possession.

If Gabriel didn’t fuck up, we won’t even be talking about Saka’s pass.

Off course it was the wrong pass to play, how can that even be a debate. Doesn’t excuse Gabriel; he should have done much better, and (if you want to assign a number to it) 90% of the blame falls on him. Still, Saka should never play that pass that way.

he needs a rest

Didn’t he rest up during the summer?

dunno how much rest he had tbh…all i know is that he is being overplayed and doesnt get much breaks from matches going back from last season.
