Bret Hart Was Quite Good

The thing for me is, if we start disqualifying people, you’d be left with nobody.
Majority of wrestlers and in general the people involved in that business are not exactly a prime example of decency.

They’re my three favourite main events of the 98-01 period. Backlash 2000 drama was ridiculous

Everyone’s Mount Rushmore of technical wrestlers?

For me it’s:

Bret
Shawn
Danielson
Angle

Could easily make a case of the likes of Benoit, Eddie, Arn Anderson and Malenko to be on there too

Watched the first Elimination Chamber match. (Survivor Series 2002)

I talked about overachievers. RVD was a very deserving champion, one of the most enjoyable high flyers to watch and the crowd was always engaged with his matches. That it took until 2006 for him to win a major belt is a farce.

Alongside popping for RVD the crowd absolutely exploded for HBK’s victory, one month later Evolution HHH’s reign would begin and RAW would become awful to watch. Unreal decision making (and extremely costly given the purchase of WCW and end of ECW) from WWE at this time.

Huge contrast between that reaction and the reception he received a few years earlier against Sid at the Garden

The best chamber match ever, imo

My personal favourite was the one a year later when Goldberg got screwed.

A match which Triple H won? That does surprise me lol

The feds ability to create megastars is/was unrivalled.

If we added four more teams from WCW, ECW, TNA and AEW who you having as your pairs @SRCJJ ?

TNA for me would have to be a toss up between Angle, Joe and Styles.

WCW has to, has to be Sting and Flair, but then Goldberg

ECW would have Mr Monday Night RVD and ? Tazz?

AEW the young bucks? :eyes:

WCW teams:

NWA/Crockett era (70s-87): Flair and Steamboat

Early Turner years (88-95): Flair and Sting

nWo era 96-99: Hogan and Goldberg

Dying days (00-01): Scott Steiner and Booker T

@RockyMaivia see what I did

Calling WWE “the fed” is super cringe btw

@SRCJJ damn you had me until Steiner. Dont get me wrong I love me some Scott Steiner I think I’d put DDP in instead of him

I’d have put Page in but his popularity peaked in 98 and first half of 99.

In 00 and 01 I think Steiner and Booker T carried the main event scene of WCW. Steiner was one of the top heels in the business by this point and Booker T work speaks for itself.

Yea I’m just a DDP mark so I’ve tried to shoehorn him in somewhere lol

I mean I’m probably the only one who’s gonna put Steiner in so I’m no better :joy:

What an absolutely pointless reply, and I’ve just contributed to it even further.

Funny, that’s exactly what I say whenever I see you replying to anybody on this website. Weird.
