Bret Hart Was Quite Good

Didn’t he pick it himself?

Not sure, I think it was Vince thing. You know how he is about wanting to create and own the trademarks of the talents.

They toned it down in the mid-2010s but when Vince started overseeing NXT he essentially started applying that again. He did it with Gunther(formerly Walter) too.
Bron broke through during that period so they gave him that stupid name.

I don’t think the relationship between the Steiners and WWE at the time helped but since then they’ve been inducted in the HOF and even incorporated his father into a storyline. I was hoping that was when they were gonna make the switch but they unfortunately didn’t.

I thought there was a chance he’d be the guy to beat Reigns in the end, back when he was still coming through in NXT. The guy definitely has the potential to take over Brock’s spot as the unbeatable monster in the long run.

My understanding is that he wanted to forge a legacy for himself where he wasn’t constantly being seen as a “Steiner”.

The whole name was his idea. He came up with Bron Breakker.

I think he may have said that early on as an excuse but there have been reports about it since explaining the “real reason” why he is not using it.

I recall his father or uncle actually commenting on it like a year ago saying he wants to use it but he can’t.

For what is worth, I can buy that he came up with the name but probably after they forced to use something other than Steiner.

Edit:

It was his uncle and it was a couple months ago he said this not a year ago, lol.

Mate, if Bron Breakker has given his reason for not using the name I’m going to take his reasons over whatever you pull up lol.

You don’t have to try to be an ITK for everything my friend lol

I mean, it is Scott so you’re right. He has said some outrageous stuff before.

WWE love making their own names so it wouldn’t surprise me if that didn’t want to use his real name

He should go. Hopefully Fenix is going too.

Done everything in AEW, done everything in Mexico, done everything in the indies, TNA, LU, you name it.

WWE needs more luchadors. As Lucha Bros, or Penta and Fenix separately, they’re the luchadors to take the next step.

It absolutely doesn’t.

Luchadors are overrated.

Can’t say I’m disappointed he’s leaving. Was never a fan of his. Not a fan of his in-ring style and he is bland as fuck. He can go and do flippy shit with his pal Ospreay in AEW now

He’s done absolutely fuck all for years and it’s not because he’s been booked wrong.

Takes more than gymnastics to be a draw at the top level.

I found Ospreay’s recent statements about Ricochet and his criticism of WWE for how they’re booking Ricochet strange.
Not really his business to comment on it.
I guess this checks out, clearly they’ve talked about it and Ricochet is heading to AEW.

I don’t blame him. WWE never managed to make it click with him and Ricochet himself never really grew to be the star you’d once think he could be.
I would highlight though, this wasn’t a WWE only problem. Even before Ricochet joined WWE, Ricochet was still struggling to get to the next step.

Frankly, Ricochet’s best work wasn’t even as Ricochet, it was as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground. A character that was predominantly mute and was carried by the some great minds behind the scenes.

I guess Ospreay v Ricochet is the match at All In. I thought it was gonna be Ospreay v Pac. Perhaps they do a triple threat.
@Annie85x must be happy with him going to AEW.

Yeah I’m definitely excited to see what he can do with some of that roster.

He’s never gonna be a/the main guy cause of a lack of character, but will put on some good matches.

MJF slagged off Ospreay a fair bit on Dynamite.

A match at All In between the two of them would be great

(Though I’d prefer The Bastard Pac v Ospreay at Wembley )

I saw somewhere that the angle where he brushed off Cole was on purpose because Cole isn’t fit yet.

Could be Swerve’s opponent at All In.

Sarayya and Mariah May should have another match at All In. They had a good match on Dynamite and they’d be in front of an English crowd in August.

Yeah that’d be a great fued.

The most obvious direction for me would be Swerve winning at Forbidden Door with the whole Will refusing to hit the Storm Driver stuff coming into play, then Ospreay winning the Owen and getting the rematch at All In, and hitting the move for the win.

But that does feel very obvious and predictable to go with the hometown win/pop. It would be good to see Swerve go a bit longer than August with the belt too.
