Bret Hart Was Quite Good

Best ones in your book?

I’d go 1998, 2003 and 1997 (the last one for notorious reasons)

I also liked that recentish one where Jericho was on Team Raw and thr Shield were on opposing sides (I think Rollins and Reigns on Raw and Ambrose on Team SD) and they had a spot where all three put AJ Styles through a table.

2003 defo stands out to me. 2002 is good as well because it’s the first ever Elimination Chamber. Apart from its hard to a SS that really stands out as great.

And always has a special feel when it’s held at the garden.

Despite the general awfulness of the invasion storyline, the 2001 Survivor Series is up there with the best.

Probably the greatest Survivor Series Elimination match I’ve seen ever.

“He’s got him in the sharpshooter!”

“Oh but it’s up against an Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle won’t ta…WHAT THE HELL is this, why would a Gold Medalist tap my future is on the line!”

“JERICHO JERICHO HAS DOUBLE CROSSED THE ROCK, THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION”

World Wrestling Federation was such a good name.

Does anyone else still actively avoid supporting the World Wildlife Fund if it ever comes up?

World Wrestling Federation just rolls off the tongue perfectly. Miss them days :frowning:

People actually used to say the whole thing before but ever since it became Entertainment using the acronym has been the way forward for performers and fans.

Imagine someone saying “I’m the World Wrestling Entertainment Champion”. Would sound so phony.

What’s everyone’s controversial wrestling takes?

Mine is the Shield are extremely overrated. I see people list them as the greatest faction ever and it just blows my mind. They were only together for 2 years and they only had 1 Tag Title run and one US title in the group.

Absolutely agree with this.

I used to love the Wyatts kicking their arse

Bossman was justified in messing up Big Shows dads funeral.

The attitude era is quite overrated. The main event roster was excellent, but the mid and lower cards were average at best, and the way almost every title was hotshotted around meant that most of the title reigns didn’t mean much. I also think it’s aged quite badly in places, some of the storytelling is properly cringey.

Recent memory, for me it has to be Kevin Owens v John Cena (their first ever match). The intensity throughout the fight was insane.

Classic one which I will always cherish Eddie v Lesnar at No Way Out.

Oh I have a few but I’ll start with this

WCW 1998 was better than RAW 1998.

Have Impact got a cash injection that I’m not aware of? Surely if he joins a US promotion it’s gonna be AEW or WWE, right?

He has absolutely no prospects in WWE. He’d fit AEW full time though.

Yeah, if I were to give it percentages it would be 95% AEW and 5% WWE.

Impact just didn’t cross my mind as an option.

I know he’s a big AJ mark though so I wouldn’t be shocked if he has a soft spot for TNA/Impact.

Judging from some of his interviews I think he enjoys and takes pride in being a bit of big fish in a small pond guy.

Chris Benoit was incredibly boring in the ring

Well, my suspicions about Impact getting some sort of cash injection got even stronger.

TNA is back(starting January 2024).
According press release they’re looking to use bigger venues going forward among other things.
Despite the old stigma for the TNA name, it sounds like providers were actually keen for Impact to use the TNA name again too.

I think WWE’s recent upturn, the writer/actor strikes and the demand for live sports may have caused a big demand for wrestling content again.

I wonder if Anthem are now willing to invest more TNA and take advantage of it.

TNA isn’t the only one. NWA secured a deal with CW as well which is actually a big deal for them. CW also has WOW as well.
