I remember we had a discussion about this in the past. General consensus in here was that Edge was a big overachiever and not a star.
It’s actually insane if you check the numbers over the years. His videos on YouTube do actually get views but TV ratings wise he has been a total non factor if not a detractor for pretty much his entire WWE return.
Someone pointed out to me that this isn’t the first time he tanked the ratings.
Apparently he was on RAW, SD and NXT after winning the Rumble to tease which champion he was gonna pick(which I can’t recall tbh) and all the shows ended up doing bad numbers.
I guess that may be why Bryan was inserted in the feud with Roman.
Gonna be interesting to see how Dynamite v NXT goes next week. First win for NXT in 3 years and they could very well do it back to back with the names announced and some that are now rumoured(Taker).
Yes, I think not only do they want to beat Dynamite but also do a great number in comparison.
However, they’re adding a lot of pressure on themselves to deliver now.
If they beat Dynamite by 100-150k viewers it’d be a win but nothing for Dynamite to be ashamed of.
However, if by some miracle Dynamite beats them then it would be an awful look and we know for a fact Tony will be boasting about that for years to come.
Oh, you can do that but part of the enjoyment that comes from watching live sports is the interactivity with other people that comes with it either online or offline alongside the unpredictability that isn’t guaranteed when you watch it after the fact.
Come to think of it, wrestling is probably the only sport that gets to benefit from worlds unless I’m missing some obvious one. Plenty of people will watch it live and plenty of people will watch it later.
I think that’s very much a view from inside your bubble. I don’t think, especially outside the US that a lot of wrestling fans watch shows live, or are second screening through the whole thing.
