Bret Hart Was Quite Good

Is the book a Pillman biography?

I really want to read Dynamite Kid’s biography. Meant to be incredible.

It’s a book called Titan Screwed going over the year of 97 and build to attitude era. Really good read. I think there’s a few other books in the series as well.

Update

There is. Well worth a look if you need something to read @DavidHillier

I’m assuming that most of you have seen “The Wrestler.” Mickey Rourke did a phenomenal job playing a washed up, down on his luck pro wrestler.

ESPN showing Wrestlemania 32.

Shane McMahon with no regard for his safety put on a great show versus the Undertaker in “hell in a cell.” Even I couldn’t believe he attempted an elbow from the top of the cell onto a table. :joy:

Reminds me of some of the old school scaffold matches when I was a kid.

This is gold :grin::grin:

Totally random but what would you guys rank as the best 15 wrestlers of the last 30 years? (1990-present day)

I won’t include guys like Ric Flair too high up (because I think his best body of work came in the 80s) nor will I include someone like Savage (his best work was almost certainly the 80s).

  1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
  2. Bret Hart
  3. Shawn Michaels
  4. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
  5. The Undertaker
  6. Sting
  7. The Rock
  8. John Cena
  9. Kurt Angle
  10. Chris Jericho
  11. Booker T
  12. Ric Flair
  13. Triple H
  14. Scott Hall
  15. Scott Steiner (just because I think his in ring work in the 90s was innovative and legendary, and the way he reinvented himself is criminally underrated).

Good list. I’d rank both HBK and Hart above The Rock for overall ability and longevity.

Bret Hart gave the WWF 13 years and HBK and HBK gave the WWE probably near 20 years himself. The Rock himself, whilst he had a huge peak, really only gave the company half a decade. He already had one eye on the exit door by 2002 and was done by 2003.

But I have no doubt in my mind that The Rock, as a heel at least, was incredible. I never enjoyed his babyface runs.

Not sure you need the question mark

Great run in his wcw days, but didn’t do long enough in WWE during his prime years. His recent appearances less said the better.

His Hollywood theme during his heel run is easily my favourite.

  1. Jericho
  2. Angle
  3. Shawn Michaels
  4. Stone Cold
  5. Taker
  6. Rock
  7. Benoit
  8. Kane
  9. Eddie
  10. Lesner

I just never liked Bret. He’s clearly on a non objectionable list.

I won’t do an official ranking but personal favourites.

  1. Rock (Mainly Rock n Sock, Year 2000 and Hollywood Rock)
  2. Hogan (Mainly Hollywood)
  3. Sting (It’s fucking Sting)
  4. Stone Cold (I actually liked his Heel run in 2001 if we exclude the McMahon equation of it, there was just no face to get the best out of it)
  5. Savage (Personally I loved his WCW work, killer on the mic and had so much flair and swagger about him)
  6. Bret Hart (Montreal & Owen’s death ruined the man, he still had a lot to give)
  7. Mick Foley/Mankind/Cactus Jack (Surprised he hasn’t been mentioned)
  8. Jericho (He’s never been a big favourite of mine but at the same time through the decades his work has always been good and deserves recognition)
  9. Scott Hall (One of the sweetest punches, shame about his personal demons)
  10. John Cena (Grown on me over the years)
  11. Brock Lesnar (One of the last few to captivate the larger than life feeling of old)
  12. Eddie Guerrero (Known for his WWE stint, but he had excellent stuff in WCW. When the crowd is proper involved in the cruiserweights, you know you’re good)
  13. Kurt Angle (Rose up quickly and showed he belonged)
  14. Booker T (Deserved to be pushed much earlier in WCW)
  15. RVD (Wanted to include an ECW guy here)

I’ve personally never been too much of a fan of most of the Kliq’s (Nash, HHH, HBK, Xpac) work. I never saw much in the likes of CM Punk either.

I’d like to propose another question - best tag team of all time?

My personal faves are Edge and Christian. I loved the whole vampire shit with that other third guy whose name I’ve forgotten just now.

Man how did I leave out Foley. Ffs

Love me some Dudley Boyz
