it is actually quite nice. There is more of a depth of flavour than Guinness. Guinness has this mellow balanced smooth sort of flavour. Black heart is smooth (especially if you use the nitrosurge like above) But it has a stronger roasted / coffee flavour with a slightly more bitter aftertaste. Same concepts really just different flavour profiles.
Both are not easy to get (Guinness nitro surge and Brewdog Black Heart)… At least not in regular supermarket.
But the gadget alone worth me to try to get some…
Tip with the guinness nitrosurge i have had them and the standard guinness draught. I have to admit the Nitrosurge is smoother and the closest you can get to a pub pint.
Doing the pin trick above on a draught can is pretty close to the nitrosurge can. If the Nitrosurge drink is a 10…the pin trick on the draught can is probably about an 8. For the difference in cost some people may say for the slight extra edge between the 2 it is not worth it because of the cost.
Some people are on the other side saying the extra cost is worth it for that extra smoothness etc. I am sorta in the middle i like the draught cans enough that its my go to. If i find the Nitrosurge especially on offer i will get a 4 pack because there is a difference there but not so much that i would only buy nitrosurge its more of an extragavance and ‘ill treat myself.’
Thanks for your input, Mavs.
Definitely I will try it out and get myself the gadget as Christmas gift.
My mate was jutst talking about these. I’m purist though, just can’t. Guinness from a can just never ever tastes right to me so I don’t bother.
Although, not booze related but seeing as we touched on coffee in here too, I tried a Cuban shot this morning, a bit of brown suger ontop of the grounds after they’ve been tamped and then put into the machine, gave me quite a nice buzz and I’ve been finding that the coffee in the bottom of the cup has been quite bitter lately, this also seems to have resolved that.
I actually only bought one of them last week. Aesthetic results (below) are quite pleasing.
Im picky about where I’ll drink Guinness but even in pubs I know that do a good pint I’ve had worse than the few cans of this I’ve had so far.
Cruz Campo during the summer was epic
Spoiled for choice there. Often have Asahi when at the sushi restaurant near my gaff. My local has Cruz Campo and that’s been my go to for a while. Lovely drop.
Had a neck oil earlier down the pub for a bit of variety.
The pub I was watching the match in last night had Asahi! Was a glorious surprise as hardly any pubs sell it. Was £6 a pint so not to bad aswell
*Crying because those days are long gone down here!
Yea i was very shocked at beer prices in London the first time i visited post pandemic. Used to be cheap compared to some Dublin pubs. No more.
Much is a pint in London now?
There is something about a Guiness and do enjoy a pint or two…but struggle to have more than two.
London Pride is my first choice when it comes to beer. Stunning pint but just a shame it is not more widely acknowledged. Even better if on tap at the pub but rare to find it.
£7.60 at least my way!
I was in a brewdog pub today so gave this a try. It wasn’t good. I had some very lovely other beers but this was the worst of what i tried today.
I need to try that to comment
I’d have probably got beer rather than Irn Bru though
I do wonder why the cider is so orange at the emirates
