Will be a shame if he goes to Everton over us, a solid first team RCB is exactly what we need.
I honestly don’t think he’ll go to Everton. I think it’s agent / club talk to get Arsenal to speed up in their negotiations with the club on fee.
Either that or its pure paper talk to make out like there’s some kind of race.

I don’t think the Everton interest is the hold up either. Especially if terms have been agreed with club and player a few weeks ago. The hold up is probably something dumb like Arsenal or the player don’t want to do medicals or have the pictures taken and contract signing, whilst he’s in the England camp.
We should just say to Everton that we’ll have White and they can have the choice of any of our collection of CB’s, except Gabriel.

Sancho is a deal that’s been in the making for United for about 2-3 years, I really don’t see it as simple as us being able to step in and put up 72 million and he’ll come here.
Not that we should anyway with Saka and Pepe at RW.

White at 40m is overpaying. If we spend 55m it will be embarrassing. But I guess it doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t hamper our spending elsewhere. If he’s a bust tho we have another Xhaka/Muatafi situation where we can’t get rid of him for years…is it gonna fuck our finances for years?
I just hate this profile of player we are chasing Ben White and Maddison. Have to overpay because they are English, probably about twice as much as a player of similar skill from a foreign league.

Worth it though when you get 5 penalties a month given because 8/11 of your players are English.

This deal is much more costly than Pepe btw. He’s on almost double the wages Pepe is.
Forgive me if Pepe was actually a “plan” for us.
If we can get Haaland in 2023, this would be a great “planning” for us.
Sell the deadwood, prepare a team for him, get a good connection and verbal agreement with the club and player, buy him when the funds are there.
I don’t see taking 1 1/2 or multiple years to sign a great prospect is a problem.
