He definitely doesn’t have Ibrahimovic’s mentality. Mentally seems so fragile, his body language says it all. Makes sense why he didn’t join us a year ago because he felt he wasn’t ready enough.
Arteta highlighted how he wanted to see resilience and how striker would respond to drought moments and felt he got the right answer in Gyokeres.
Mentality was the biggest concern of mine. I was willing to bet on the talent anyway but so far the mentality issues seem to be winning out. Guy has no dog in him whatsoever.
I think someone commented about him during the summer, and I think it’s spot on.
It’s like Sesko learned to play football by heart… (not sure I worded it correctly).
He’s just completely devoid of any proper striker instinct. Has some quite freaky qualities but both his movement and reactions when he even gets into some decent positions are just so weird… I can’t even explain it. It’s just wrong.
Just lacks pragmatism and the ability to pick the right solutions. Doesn’t lack anything technically/physically (on the contrary).
Definitely, I don’t think it’d be a huge improvement for either side but profile wise Gyokeres would do better in a counter attacking side like Man Utd with Fernandes feeding him through balls.
And on the flip side, Sesko would be eating good with all those Saka crosses and our top notch set pieces.
It’s incredible how much Leipzig were pumping his price all the time.
I mean, he’s still a big talent, but so raw and so far from being a true top striker it’s just ridiculous when you go back to their demands and all the hype around him.
United should have known what they were getting and could never expect top production from him straight away. He’s obviously a player who needs to be worked on, a project basically.
It’s stupid seeing many of their fans comments as if they expected a prime Van Persie. The sad part is, seems Amorim is thinking the same way.
He never got a run of 2-3 starts so far and is destined to fail unless they are ready to sacifice some short term results for his long term developement.
Environment has a huge impact for a player and does play a big factor in their performances. For example Sanchez was world class for us but at MUFC he flopped badly.
I think Sesko would have done better at Arsenal than he is doing at Manchester United but don’t think he would be better in terms of producing quality, he’d be delivering goals moreso because of the quality around him. Same with Gyokeres, if he was to go MUFC, he’d probably be doing much worse.
Truth is, the quality of strikers in the market recently has been extremely poor with Ekitike being the only exception but a very raw and expensive exception.
Yeah. His valuation was what turned me off. He was probably the best young striker in the market but the lad is far from the final product. He has so much work to do but somehow he was valuated at like £80m, apparently he was asking for massive wages and his entourage were acting like he’s Ibrahimovic.
