A worry us armchair fans don’t have ![]()
Going to miss my other train now too! The night just gets better and better!
Guess you’re at home, nice and warm with a hot chocolate! ![]()
Yes, after seeing the situation again the entire midfield should apply pressure better. To let any opposition player keep the ball In this position at this time in the match at 1-0 is very poor. And with this lack of effort we are at best a mediocre team. The tackle from Trossard in the end of the match on opposite side was a prime example of effort needed
Re-live, just finished. This club is going to kill me one day, but COME OOOOONN!
You cannot be dropping points against the 20th placed team if you want to win the league, but this was obviously waaaaay to close
To say that was painful watching is an understatement!
One thing to take away from the performance, it’s a nice warm up for the Everton game.
Moyes……. There’s a manager who knows how to kill a game with ‘a man for man’ negative approach.
Could be another hard watch!
Feel like the next few league games are gonna define our season.
Too many fuck ups and close calls.
Not sure how you can say that given what we’ve seen all season.
We’ve gone from slapping the most in form team in Europe in Bayern to be lucky to beat Wolves in less than 3 weeks.
Momentum can shift within days. Nothing will be defined anytime soon.
Yep. We’ve already seen it about three times this season.
Just gotta keep plugging away. No team is putting together long runs yet this season.
Although we deserved to win, they scored a good goal and we scored from a couple of own goals from set pieces, including the winner at the end of the game, so the media and opposition supporters will have every right to criticise us.
Let’s hope it was just a bit of complacency and Arteta learns from this game because there’s no way we’ll get away with that sort of performance against any other PL club.
Just saw the highlights and I still can’t wrap my head around that chance they had in the first half (27th minute), when that player was clear on goal, running from their half…

We had a throw in deep in their half, Zubi makes a mistake, but how is he our last man, deepest player, just 20 yards away from their goal??
Where were our centre backs??? Where is our whole back line??
What the f happened there??

I can’t believe we celebrated like this this smh

Own goals from set pieces ![]()
Football is finished as a sport if we can’t celebrate last minute winners. I dont care about the performance or the context of the game.
Definitely. Last minute winners are one of life’s great treasures.
I didn’t watch the game beyond the last 10 minutes, so I was wondering what everyone was complaining about, and I’ve been itching to join in. So I watched the first 30 minutes on x2 speed to at least get the gist of the issues with Arsenal yesterday.
When Arsenal had the ball, Wolves sat in a 4-4-2 block. I’ve seen this type of defensive organisation many times over the years. Everton and Fulham are the most similar. Wolves were well organised and made no effort to press Arsenal’s centre-backs in established possession. Timber, in particular, was often left with 5-10 metres of space when he received the ball.
In the last image, Timber doesn’t have the ball, but it shows how much space he had to play with. The issue for me was that he shunned the centre of the pitch. He was either passing the ball to Saliba or Saka, so the pattern of play tended to fall into the dreaded horseshoe shape.
I’ve said this before about Saliba and Gabriel, but to break down a block like this, you have to provoke movement, A slight moment of disorganisation. The centre-backs therefore need to be a bit more proactive.
How? Put your foot on the ball. Will they press you? If not, move into the space they’re affording you and make them see you as a threat. Another thing he could do is pass into the block and find a Zubimendi or an Eze.
Unfortunately, combining centrally doesn’t seem to figure in Arteta’s masterplan.
Man Utd put 4 past Wolves, away from home and we struggled to score 2. While Wolves might not have employed a low block against United at home, there is no excuse for how our superior midfield and attack struggled to score against the worst team in the league by some distance.
I think we are relying on individual moments for scoring goals rather than any fixed patterns of play. Mikel hasn’t figured out a way to get the best out of Ode, Eze and Gyokeres as an attacking force. It seems we are just doing what we did last season, with newer players.
And what’s with us conceding late goals off late? We have gone from being very stable and calm at the back to a team that’s showing lack of composure and concentration. Obviously not having Gabriel and Saliba at the back has played a big role but it’s still worrying.
They played open football against United and got banged. Rob Edwards even said after the game they adopted this aggressive low block strategy especially for us.
That’s football for you mate. Three weeks ago we made the most in form team in Europe look like amateurs.
We’ve seen other teams that have dominated recently fall for it too.
Liverpool’s unbeaten run back in 2020 was ended by Watford who beat then 3-0, and then later got relegated.
City under Pep who have been dominating the country the psst decade have bad their fair share of upsets.
