Arsenal vs Shakhtar (CL) 1-0

Need to get some legs rested in this one and much needed game time for others.

I think the answer to that lies within the last 3 league games, all games which Arsenal should on paper win comfortably and all games in which Arsenal did or came close to dropping points. You might make a change or two changes but multiple changes in a single game, you drop your level slightly, you risk results you can’t afford.

It’s no different in the CL. We might play a team like Shakhtar who we should have too much for but in the CL you get these teams playing like it’s their CL final. Couple of bad results and you’re playing an extra two legged tie in February and then was the rotation a good idea? Certainly not.

With 5 subs available in a game, the scope is very much there to manage rotation when you have a much better idea of whether you can afford it. You can pre plan the minutes important players will play.

But the bottom line is, not only at Arsenal, if you’re an important player in a big team, you’re going to have a heavy workload.

Like I mentioned I just don’t think it’s a good long term strategy and IMO will inevitably cost us.

Flogging the same team after they’ve had to deal with playing with 10 men multiple times doesn’t sit right with me.

Having a default heavy workload shouldn’t mean this is the way it has to be

I mean, we’re seeing players withdrawn on the hour mark, some coming on for the last 20 or 30 of games. We have seen 1 or 2 changes in some matches.

What more should be happening?

Are Shakhtar that shit we can afford to rotate so heavily?

Tickets all over the exchange but can’t add any to the basket ffs

4th in their league and have a shitty away record in the CL

This just isn’t sustainable IMO, Havertz and Rice are seeing crazy minutes and the same will occur from Liverpool and beyond

I’m using the measure rule that the only player they have sold close to £100M is Mudryk. They haven’t sold a player for that amount before, not are there any reports that claim a team wants to purchase any of their starting eleven for anywhere near that much.

Mudryk is not good at kick ball.

Shaktar is are not good at ballfoot.

It’s a safe assumption that Nwaneri will play the Øde role and score six goals now.

Think we’ll see some rotation along with some regular first teamers to keep a balanced XI which will help see us through.

Raya
White Saliba Kiwior Skelly
Rice Merino
Nwaneri
Sterling Jesus Martinelli

Should be enough to see off Shakhtar and also rest some of the lads.

I smell a classic Arsenal-shit-in-Europe-performance coming if we relax even one bit.

Still dificult to gauge what a win is worth in the new format, but get up to a 2-0 lead and sub key players is maybe a more cautionary approach.

Then again our league campaign might be on life support trying to fight robocity with red cards and injuries so idno what’s better.

May aswell let them sit this one out
