4 games in 11 days. Very much a make or break period of the season
Timber, Odegaard, and Havertz will come into the side, but I think Arteta should freshen things up a little more.
I’d use Tierney at left back and Lewis-Skelly in the midfield.

Zinchenko should also be used
Newcastle might use Gordon from the right, as they did in the fixture earlier this season. Unfortunately, Arteta only wants to use Zinchenko at left-back but is not trusted defensively hence the lack of game time.
Arsenal Tottenham final. What a banger. My heart won’t cope.
I’ve even seen neutrals think that’s gonna be the final.
What makes people think Spurs have a chance against Liverpool over two legs?
Cause they’re most unpredictable bag of mess the league has ever known.
You literally don’t know what Spurs you’ll end up with on the day.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ange wins a trophy as he’s destined to in his second season
So there’s potential for four NLDs this season. Wild.
really need to win this.
Have to go for it full throttle. Don’t see how we can afford not to when the league is virtually gone, we have a big injury list anyway and the opposition are on some of the best form in the country. Even at our best we could get turned over by these lot at the moment. The situation in the league has made the domestic cups an imperative and this team & manager need trophies now to back up their rise. Our lack of success in this competition is also very poor for our stature.
Every cup game is a huge game now. As others have said a first leg victory is going to be vital to take to their place.
4 home games. Very favourable for us.
In a one of game, the spuds can defeat anybody. Very difficult to see them beating Pool over 2 legs.
Have to count on our home form.
Nahh mate.
I’ve ruled us off a few times this season already lol, but as long as there are any chances left to compete for the league, and there still are some, it would be absolute madness and complete nonsense to prioritise a fucking mickey mouse cup over the Premier League.
Seriously. This is a Tottenham/Everton/Wolves cup… Let them have it, couldn’t care for a second.
While there are any chances left we have to go for the league. If anything, we might sacrifice the PL for the Champions League if it comes to that, or maybe FA cup at worst…
But the league cup… Seriously??
I think we have invested way too much into this team to settle for a League Cup in the middle of the fucking season while we are still not that far off the first spot and while we’re in the CL and the FA cup.
Sorry, but that post is absolute nonsense.
Not that I’m saying we shouldn’t try to win this, but giving up on the league and going all-in in the League Cup just to win A cup is beyond desperate.
No matter how bad we were this season we are much better than that.
I’m still saying, ONE proper siginging in January and we could be back in it. The worrying thing is, we aren’t showing much ambition to sign anyone now, judging by all reports. Not sure what’s the reason for that.
Yeah, we definitely wont go on such a run as we did last year, but neither will Liverpool match City’s record from the second part of the last season.
The confidence is low in the team atm and that’s a big issue. A proper signing and few decent results could still transform this team.
Wild arrogance when we are 5 years without a trophy and in a semi final
Top 6 from the previous season should be excluded from the LC imo.
Only way to keep the comp going otherwise bin it.
Nahh mate.
That narrative is ridiculous.
Btw, what do we have to prove in this competition again?
Arteta has won the FA cup in his first season. How many FA cups have we won in that Giroud, Ozil etc era?
And what did we prove with that? What did that do for us outside of those competitions?
We were still a banter club in the PL.
This is not arrogance mate, this is reality.
As said, after investing so much time and money into this team it would be ridiculous to focus on the League Cup in this position.
Again, a Mickey Mouse trophy.
The only thing ridiculous is your posts tbh
No one is saying its what they want but a trophy is a trophy and the match going fans get a trip to Wembley
We are three wins (possibly even 2) from a Wembley final and trophy. We absolutely should not be treating this as a Mickey Mouse cup. Is it a major? No. If anything, try to kill the tie tomorrow to enable us to rest a few in the return.
I’d rather bin the FA cup game if forced to chose.
You say that but honestly the League Cup has, for the last 11 seasons, been won by Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool. It may not be the most prestigious of the trophies we’ll compete for but it’s clearly only won by the top teams.
Usually I’d agree with you Pires, but the league is done man. It’s Joever.
Deep UCL run, FA Cup and LC is all that’s left imo.
We haven’t won the LC in over 30 years or something like that. At least it’s something.
We need a reset for a year, cause all our forces are injured or suspended.
If Arteta finishes 2nd again to a non-Man City club with zero trophies again, there will be calls to replace him.
The fanbase would get so toxic again.
£700m bones, Arteta needs to win something this year.
