Mid-week game, must win game, late kick-off, United with a new manager bounce, our less than solid defense, all these make me really nervous about this one.
I can see United getting an early goal on the counter from Rashford or Garnacho and then us chasing the game for 80+ minutes, maybe getting a late equalizer.
Even when we’ve been much the stronger side in the last few seasons, we’ve only managed to beat United by the odd goal or 2, even losing in 2022 under Ten Hag. So I don’t think this will be a walloping. I expect this to be a close game.
They have a poor record at the Emirates, they’re still figuring out the new style of play under Amorim, they will be without Mainoo and Martinez, our right side is exceptional and would trouble even the best defense in the world, win us a lot of corners and we are pretty good at those.
Our fanbase seems really confident about this game.
Perhaps I’m just scarred from all these years of Man Utd raising their game against us despite their fall post Fergie.
I’m not not confident but if it’s one thing with United is they’re always a bit unpredictable, regardless if we win or not always feels like they go up a level to play us.
Expecting the same post every week until we drop points. There is nothing unique about tonight’s game other than the now ancient history the clubs share. We are 9 points behind the league leaders. Every single game is a nerve jangler as we are desperately trying to stay in it.
