I’m not sure this is nailed on tbh, I hope he does cause we need to be playing our best side and not fucking about but it still wouldn’t shock me to see Kepa in goal.
City aren’t the same but they have some great individual quality that can win them a game like this. We have to start our strongest 11 if we are to have a chance.
I can see this going to extra time and City nicking it right at the end. I can also see us doing the same.
Out of sheer boredom I looked back at the last handful of CC finals and it seems pretty split on whether clubs started their #1 keeper or not.
Liverpool always started their backup Kelleher over Allisson.
City started their backup over Ederson against Spurs.
Chelsea started their then #1 both times (Petrovic once, Mendy once, lol).
Spurs started their #1 in Lloris when they played City.
Newcastle started their #1 Pope once and likely would have started him the other match but he was suspended.
United started their #1 in De Gea.
Basically, City and Liverpool started their backup keepers, everybody else has started their #1.
In other words, only the clubs that didn’t really care about the trophy that much started their backups. Given that we haven’t won anything for nearly six years, I can’t put us in that category.
I also don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that Raya starts here.
I get the whole desperate point but surely Arteta was desperate in the SF games too, didn’t stop him from using Kepa in both games.

Getting nervous now, because 33 years is too damn long not to have lifted this and I’m still traumatised by our last two appearances in the final.
We need this. This psychological boost at this point of the season can’t be underestimated.

I would like to go as strong as possible but can see Kepa starting. Mosquerra has been decent, but White has to start. It will be interesting to see who starts at left back and up front. I would like:
Raya
White
Saliba
Gabriel
Hincapie
Zubi
Rice
Eze the City slayer
Madueke
Gyokeres
Trossard

That’s precisely why I think Kepa will start again.
He was on goal the whole competition, and especially in those SF games, where we were already at an advanced stage and played a tough opponent.
I’d be surprised if Raya starts.

A win here would boost morale even more, mantaining the positive momentum, and can break City even more for the title race.

You’re right, though I think the importance of this game is more than just winning the trophy.
I think if we best City now, we psychologically kill their season and go on to win the league and extend our lead to 10+ points in the remaining 7 fixtures.
If we lose it, it could go the other way and affect our confidence in the other comps.
