Arsenal transfers 25/26

What Pepe saga?

Whatever the fuck Arteta is doing to him

That’s a real disappointment because it shows the club isn’t prepared to be proactive or at least acknowledge that sometimes circumstances dictate a tweak to a strategy.

I have no doubt they assumed they could make it through this season, get EL football, shed more contracts and then build. But that would require ignoring some glaring issues that came up this season.

I think they’re really worried about making a mistake in the market which is admirable, but caution can slide into dithering which I think is evident if you look at the profiles of the three strikers we were chasing in January.

That’s kind of how I saw it during the summer and going into the beginning of the season. I could say there is no ambition because the Kroenke’s and Arteta are helping each other to be comfy and in a bit of a bubble, but then again when I think it through we did go for Vlahovic, and Isak and DCL are probably a level down from him, no guarantees when it comes to potency and efficiency as CF’s, so we shouldn’t be paying over the odds for either, and the CM options mentioned are not awe-inspiring either.

I can’t say we haven’t tried this window, and I still hope for something happening on transfer deadline day, but unless we can find good loan deals, esp. to temporarily cover for CM, I don’t really want any signings not considered long term top quality signings. No more Willian’s.

I feel like you’re really letting the club off the hook here. We knew CM was an issue in the summer. We didn’t address it.

Window SLAMS THE CUNT SHUT on Monday at 11pm.

There is going to be hysteria and panic at London Colney on Monday.

6 month loan offer for Danny Ings. £8m loan fee. Or £35m for Sébastien Haller.

I feel that we’ll add to the squad, but it will be hugely underwhelming and probably a rip off

People keep talking about top 6 but with our squad as it is right now, 6th is nowhere near guaranteed. We’re 2 points from 8th ffs.

The club has decided Aubameyang isn’t an Arsenal player anymore and that’s a significant loss to a squad. He was our starting striker at the start of the year. Anyone will do in a pinch but to not bring anyone in to cover his loss would be complete fucking negligence.

I’m finding all this a bit weird at the moment, it doesn’t look as if nothing is happening for anyone this January in the premiership, but having had a look what’s going on in Italy there seems to be a bit of movement.
Now my understanding is football in Italy is suffering due to covid and lack of money within each club, and the premiership clubs seem reluctant to splash out .
Is there a serious lack of talent out there that wants to come to England?

I’m going to go ahead and partially blame Brexit too :smirk:

Remember when the club decided to loan Ainsley and Kola out leaving us with Tierney as the only LB at the club for the remainder of the season?

That went well .

We do have Tavares and Cedric as backup fullbacks.

Bigger issue is we went from having enough centre backs to stock Walmart for 5 years, to having only 3.

Yeah, I wasn’t pointing at the current fullback state.
Moreso pointing that we are short at CB and ST. This can really backfire if shit goes south.
