Arsenal transfers 25/26

Who remembers the chaos of Arshavin in January all those years ago? Man the pandemonium, the deadline day saga, the did we sign him in time?

I was living in London that winter. Got a sinus infection and discovered I was allergic to the medicine prescribed. Heady times.

Easily one of my favourite players of the Emirates era

Criminally misused too. Everyone could see he was a #10 or a second striker but Wenger had him on the flanks

Lino in, done and done, A+ transfer window :+1:

Isn’t Wijnaldum too old? And he’s barely been playing for PSG either right?

Not sure how I feel about signing another geriatric on loan

Depends on budget and whether we can go.big for both CF and CM. I’ve given up on following finances closely, via. Swiss Ramble, have no.belief in FFP meaning anything, and don’t fully get what the Kroenke’s have done, or can do, with ultra low interest long term loans,.so all I want really is for the club to push itself and show ambition, continuing on from.the summer window.

@Cristo please mate. You were advocating Wilshere this morning and questioning this as move.

Atrocious injury record. He’s 29 with the body of a 40 y/o.

And I love Jack.

Strolls didn’t you watch the video? He’s fit and available!

But they were never enough in the first place and that’s the problem.

Partey - 3/4 good games since he signed
Xhaka - oddly still our best CM but a massive cunt
Elneny - solid backup but don’t want him starting too often
Lokonga - decent in spells so far but not ready

So really we needed a starting CM in the summer but could understand they couldn’t afford after the rest of the spending.

A loan should’ve been immediately lined up for Jan and a target for this coming summer.

That window is bittersweet for me. We signed an elite striker but it’s also an acknowledgement that the guy we spunked a club record Ā£50m on a few months earlier was every inch as disappointed as many predicted he’d be lol.

Signing Aubameyang epitomised Wenger’s lack of urgency and highlighted his indecisiveness in the transfer market.

Although he was a top European striker who was an instant success with us, he should have been bought two seasons earlier to replace Giroud but Wenger bought Lacazette instead.

This meant we ended up spending more than twice as much as we needed to because Lacazette wasn’t good enough so we had to get Aubameyang, who we should have got in the first place.

We also would have had an attack with Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla and Aubameyang, which would have meant we would have been challenging for the PL title rather than a top four trophy.
