Isn’t Hakimi more for of a wingback though?
Can he play in a back 4?
Tierney one side, and Hakimi the other?
Where’s my Kleenex?
Surely any CL club would snap him up before us (except maybe Liverpool with TAA). Probably more realistic than Grealish though.
Not convinced by any of these last minute loan outs. Brings in a few quid in terms of fees and some saved wages but feels like we could squeeze the likes of Newcastle and West Brom for permanent deals as they try to avoid the financial ruin of relegation. These players are not going to increase their value over the next few months and even if they do, good luck to them.
Possibly both Newcastle and West Brom go down, we get our useless players back and the Calum Chambers cycle repeats and next thing you know it’s a few years later and they are leaving on a free.
such a good term, should forever be in the footballing lexicon.
Good. Prefer giving minutes to someone from the youth if it came down to it.
Van Aanholt
I thought Hodgson rubbished those rumours?
How disheartening must it be for fans of Newcastle and West Brom to see our scraps as their main deadline day signings
That would be massive for us…Tierney on the left, and Hakimi on the right…sell Bellerin to Barca and job done…two outstanding attacking full backs. Alternatively, sell Bellerin to Inter and we’ll have Hakimi in part exchange…Hector would love Milan and we would have a quality RB. Sorted!
Lamptey would be a really good back up option however. Think he will become a great player in years to come so another one we should be keeping tabs on.
I haven’t said we need a RB in the squad management thread as I think Bellerin and Soares are adequate, but fuck I’d love it if we could sell Bellerin and land Hakimi.
If we really want to push on and become a top 8 club in Europe one day I suppose you need a lot more than adequate also.
Joe Willock isn’t a bad player. Just because he isn’t good enough for us doesn’t mean he won’t be good for Newcastle. I hope he goes and does great.
Brainwash in full force.
@skysports_sheth: “When people ask, ‘Who had the best transfer window?’, you could argue Arsenal are up there.”
Who had a better window? Honest question.
I don’t think we had a great one but everything is so locked down due to the pandemic that I don’t really see any other club doing much better. Maybe Liverpool if you rate Kabak I guess. But City, United, Spurs, Chelsea, or Leicester certainly didn’t do anything meaningful.
Not sure how thats such a bad statement tbh?
We’ve got rid of the majority of the cunts on high wages we didn’t want and got a legit prospect in our midfield
I think the idea of rating/grading windows, particularly the January window, is pointless filler for media and fans to argue about. Never made sense to judge a window just on immediate signings.
Even then the crux of his point was that shifting Mustafi, Sokratis is some success. These guys were not involved and off the books in 6 months anyway so I don’t get the point about relegation? No fees obtained and no meaningful wage saving that’s not particularly good to me
