Arsenal transfers 25/26

Sami Mokbel knows nothing he confirms. Mkhitaryan is already gone.

Not sure he has tbh. I was of that thought he few weeks ago, but Mkhi’s only extended his loan deal with Roma. Nobody has announced a permanent departure.

He’s gone since his contract expires at the end of next season, won’t play for us again

The fact his contract expires next season is neither here nor there. He won’t play for us again…true but until his departure is officially announced, Mokbel is not necessarily wrong.

Mokbel is saying that we can sell Mkhitaryan this summer. That is not true. If you’re reliable you know that stuff.

I see a Jackson Martinez pattern emerging in this conversation :arteta:

Pretty certain he’s contracted to us until 2021, and his current loan arrangement ends at the end of this month.

Which means, technically, we can get a fee for him. What’s more likely is we’ll extend the contract for another 12 months, and then next year he’ll join Roma full time.

Whatever this means.

Sounds like it’s not set in stone then. This is not the first time I’ve heard about Mkhi being sold lately so I think there are still some logistics to be done. Hopefully it gets sorted out. Roma have finished the season strong with Mkhi being essential, they will surely look to keep him.

I wonder if the Pedro injury would prompt Roma to pay out for Mkhi?

I realize they don’t play the exact same position, but still…

For anyone wondering, there’s 0 chance this is true. Media are putting 2+2 together by linking us with a LCB. This guy is completely out of our league at the moment.

This. Depends on the deal. 2 year deal won’t hurt.

So our window business gets underway from today then. Doubt it’ll take long for us to hear the first in or out with how close we are to new season.

If this is true does it fly in the face of Willian/Coutinho deals I wonder? We’d have Pepe, Fernandes, Saka, Martinelli fighting for wing positions.

Fernandes is 17, Saka is 18, Martinelli is 19.

I don’t think any of the above should be seen as guys we should rely on to play week in, week out.

Willian fits the mould of the more experienced wide man that can provide quality whilst the youngsters develop and Coutinho fits the mould of the versatile and experienced player who should theoretically still be in his physical prime.

Exactly.
For a club like us to get two instant upgrades on anything we have, and be affordable, is too good not to go for.

We will have two top quality players, in positions we are desperate to strengthen in, who are both experienced and successful in the PL, who our younger players can learn from and it might persuade Aubameyang that we are serious about getting into the CL.

What’s not to like about an attack that includes Courtinho, Willian, Pepe, Lacazette and Aubameyang?

Completely agree. Those players are for the future and will hopefully get good minutes next season both in the cup competitions and the PL. Willian for 2 years will provide experience and help us manage minutes of our youngsters. If one wins his place, then Willian is fab option off the bench. We really lakc experience an depth. Coutinho will hopefully buy time for ESR, who could be our future creative mid. But we just don’t know at PL level yet. Hopefully ESR will stay with us for at least the first half of the season and get good cup minutes and some PL minutes. Then, if Arteta thinks he needs more first team experience, he can go on loan in Jan.

But damn we need at least another solid CB, DM and CM. With Chelsea and Bayern still to play their second leg, I don’t think these players would be announced before then. Chelsea looks to be going out, so if we are to sign Willian, he could be the first to be announce. If we sign Countiho, doubt we hear anything before Bayern are finished with the CL.

Yea as soon as I’d wrote it I did think they don’t quite have the experience right now. Especially with Aubameyang supposedly wanting top signings. Would Coutinho be coming here as a winger or CAM or creative midfielder? Do we want both Coutinho and Willian? And should we be going for Dembele over both, given their age profiles? I’m not sure on the answers to any of those questions

If we do get Fernandes he probably only plays Europa and League Cup anyway. I wonder if that may mean the end for Nelson
