Arsenal transfers 25/26

So sell him, but don’t replace him with an overrated scrub like Willian!

Nah. He has enough in the tank to be rotational player.

If it has to be a Kia bum, I’d rather Willian than coutinho.

Willian would be our second best player if we sign him

Do not fear, brother. You are going to get both hehe.

And how much money are we likely to be paying him to be a rotation player?

If it’s the sums you’d imagine, fuck that.

On a serious note, I’d be very surprised if Arsenal sign another centre back.

If we can get Willian or Courtinho for a reasonable price then I would have either of them or both.
They’re quality players, experienced at the top level, successful in the PL and attainable.
I know they aren’t youngsters but we have enough of those and we need experience as well.

Courtinho was the best midfielder in the PL only a few seasons ago and Willian is probably Chelsea’s most effective attacking player so why would we turn our nose up to either of them?
Not only would they make our midfield better, all our younger players would learn what it’s like to play alongside elite players who know how to win.

There’s no doubt Willian improve the 11 but the question is do you want to be lock into a 3 year deal for a player who will be 32 by the start of next season? Chelsea are sensibly being cautious, Arsenal should too

I would agree to a 1 year deal with a club option for the second but other than that it’s a bad strategic signing, In fact is the type of “cheap” business you have criticised in the past

But it’s because we only do the minimum, or cheap business, that I think Willian and Courtinho would be good signings.
For us to go out and buy two top quality, attacking midfielders, who are proven and successful in the PL, would cost more than 100m so to get them relatively cheaply would seem the best option.
It also means we have money to spend on other positions.

If, like you say, we could get them on a short term deal with an option, that would be ideal, but both players will have a lot bigger and better clubs after them so we have to persuade them with top wages rather than CL football.

Courtinho, Willian and Pepe, with Aubameyand and Lacazette, would be a pretty exciting attacking line up, and also within our budget.

The way some have been going on about this squad I wonder what business we will actually do. On one hand Arteta seems to like a lot of these players and they’re supposedly doing well under him, yet at the same time they’re a pile of shit and he supposedly “doesn’t have the players” to do what he wants?

It seems like
Auba Laca Pepe
Ceballos Xhaka
Tierney Luiz Bellerin
Either keeper

could conceivably be 9 spots in an Arteta XI going forward. Saliba incoming probably rules out buying a CB, especially if he’ll play Tierney (and Kolasinac if still here?) there too, unless he’s really desperate for a left footer.

I think we undoubtedly need someone in the middle with good creativity.

I’d personally bin Bellerin and Xhaka but I don’t think Arteta would, so who is actually coming out of the starting XI to be replaced by a new star signing?

Would short term cheap deals make sense if we’re not likely to make lots of big signings? I can’t see a big money signing coming into our front 3, and I’d personally take Willian on the pitch over Nelson or Nketieh right now. For something like 2 years with an option, he comes with current ability and only potential future downside. Compare that to someone like Mkhitaryan who came here as a flop looking to rediscover his form from 2-3 years previously.

Having enough in the tank to be a rotation option or being our second best player is all fine but as @JakeyBoy pointed out we’d likely be locked in for three years at a lot of money for a guy who, I may be in the minority on this, just isn’t that impressive. Lifting our nonexistent creativity level isn’t anything to brag about. Plus he’s the wrong age profile for me. He’s another Sokratis, another Lichstiener, another Luiz, another Cedric. We need fewer of those types. Plus I’d rather see more of Saka.

I get triggered when I read this kind of stuff. 60 percent of all the signings made since Wenger left are under 25 players. Two of all the signings made apart from those mentioned were 27-year olds who, if good, will spend a good five seasons here. We’ve been linked with some random 20-year old norwegian kid. Like Arsenal doesn’t spend enough attention to young players and the long term.

Don’t trust this guy. Earlier on his feed he said we are after Rakitic too.

I want Szoboszlai if we’re going for an AM.

There’s nothing wrong with getting all let alone mostly younger players. More likely to improve, more likely to mold to Arteta’s style, have better resale value and tend to be better value.

We should be phoning Everton again, see if they’ve got £40m sitting around for Guendozi.
