But that’s not at all the point I’m making. Of course players still want to come, we’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. The only people who talk us down or ourselves when we spin stuff like this to the media.
Sure. Yeah, I still think some buy that we don’t have money though or at least we’re not willing to spend money like Man Utd does. The thing is, nobody knows for sure.
I think the deals we’ve done recently show that. Even the Pepe fee will be paid over seasons.
So any selling club that enters negotiations with us is carefully trying not to get us to turn away by asking for ridiculous money.
Whereas, the first reaction selling clubs have with City, Utd and Chelsea is “let’s just go for the best deal we can get” and more often than not they get it(Maguire, AWB).
It’s why I think we have stayed away from doing deals within the PL. Palace tried to pull that shit with us and we immediately started looking elsewhere.
Yeh clubs will absolutely try to get every penny out of you if they know you are a rich club but like I say everyone knows about the brand of Arsenal so instead of silly tricks I think we should just be upfront, try and get a fair deal and if not be prepared to look elsewhere, even United have started to realize they have to do that with the Igahlo/King situation. Players will always want to go to United they have to use that allure over financial firepower.
I just feel like these tactics hinder us more than help us when you think back to deals like Suarez- sorry to bring that up I know it’s been beat to death. Instead of trying to act like a broke club why don’t we put a little more effort into things with substance, you know tieing down players, selling for more significant fees. The acting poverty scam seems like such a Gazidis move, all smoke and mirrors, thinking you’re fooling everyone when you’re only fooling yourself.
Hahah, I see what you mean. I think we’re past those petty days though. I think the Suarez deal wouldn’t have been an issue with the current board.
Fuck Gazidis btw.
Somewhere @Electrifying wishes he could like this over 1000 times
At least he’s busy ruining Milan now. That Pioli extension is going to age like milk.
I hope that’s BS because thats horribly stupid.
Sell laca whether Auba renews or not.
Now I need Auba to renew just so we can sell laca ffs.
Who are you gonna replace Laca with? Dembele(Lyon) would cost the same. Celtic will probably sell Edouard next season so he can raise his price more.
Mixture of primarily Martinelli and Eddie, definitely feed Balogun some first 11 mins if he stays too
Martinelli’s injured though. He’ll probably be unavailable till 2021.
Is Balogun really ready(I guess we’ll never know till he gets some minutes)?
We’ll have to ask Nicki Minaj unless she has some album plans for 2021.
So is this kid joining Arsenal from Sporting to get minutes? Are we that bad?
hope we don’t spend all our transfer money on a 17 year old, this is the kind of signing you make with main targets as well
I doubt we’ll have to activate his buy-out clause. Will probably cost us around 15m. I could see a similar deal like with Saliba actually.
I don’t believe anything atm when it comes to our transfer fund…it was reported that we didn’t have any money to spend last season and that Pépé was out of our reach and we ended up signing him. Let’s wait for final league position tomorrow and outcome of FA Cup Final.
To be honest, I do have my fears over how this window is gonna go in general though.
It’s starting tomorrow and it’s gonna end in October but the league will start in September. Add that the Champions League and Europa League will take most of August.
Going to be extremely weird seeing squads change on a weekly basis. The toll on the players will be huge. Playing so often and having to keep an eye for a move. Same for the clubs.
I can see two types of clubs, the ones who panic every week due to results and others deciding to stay to still and re-evaluate in the next window.
it will just be the same as when the transfer window used to still be open when the season had already started
Just way more crazier. I can see some clubs losing their shit every week and panic buying like it’s the deadline day.
will clubs have enough money for that?
