Although we have Gyokeres, Havertz and Jesus, who are all very good strikers, none of them are elite but realistically apart from Haaland, who else is that’s available?
So it might be better to sign either a young striker with potential or an attacking player like Tonali or Rogers, who we’ve been linked with, to open up teams that sit back and defend.
Also Arteta has to be less rigid and let our attacking players have more freedom so they play to their strengths, otherwise what was the point in signing the likes of Gyokeres, Eze and Madueke, who are flair players?

Don’t worry, that’s how I read it too.
If it’s any consolation it’s always been like that. The knives were out for Bergkamp and Henry when they first arrived. Waste of money, why can’t we buy English players, they’ll leave after a season, they’ll hate our weather (forgetting that a lot of Europe is far colder than us in the winter).
I think Henry had it better because at that point Wenger’s signings had been excellent so there was more trust in that process.
The press started it, then you’d hear fans on the North Bank repeating what the press said. Nowadays it’s usually podcasts rather than newspapers.
I like Pio a lot myself but I hear what you’re saying. He’s probably my #2 choice at the moment, if we were to go for him I’d probably test the waters with up to a 50m offer.

I used to be a fan but he has been average for a while now.
Same, though I have seen him less the past two seasons.. either way £95m is a bit steep, maybe £60m or w/e is more reasonable imo. Maybe he is disillusioned with the Newcastle project and would do better at a better team? who knows.
His form hasn’t been great since Isaak left but they both played well together.
But around £90m for someone who is often injured seems too much.

For my money Newcastle’s best player, even when Isak was around.
Is he better than Martinelli? Not sure. I think he’s moreso a better fit than a better player.
Would take Barcola over both for sure.

This Gordon link won’t die. If there’s any truth in it, I reckon that must mean Martinelli is on his way out of the club.
Imagine selling Martinelli to replace him with someone of comparable quality who will undoubtedly cost more.

He signed a new contract recently, that’s why.
