Arsenal transfers 25/26

I would.

You could do more, but improving the forward line significantly is the priority and I’d be happy with adding Rodrygo and Sesko. Or Williams and Gyokeres, just none of that Sane crap.

Isak isn’t available and Gyokeres is no more a game changer than Sesko.

If you’re not happy with Sesko and Rodrygo then you’re just somebody who is never going to be happy. There isn’t a clear better player at either position that we could realistically buy this summer.

The other question to ponder here is whether Zubi, Sesko and Rodrygo is enough to win the league?

Two of those 3 won’t even start in the first 11 for a good while.

As I said, these would be acceptable but I’d prefer Gyokeres because Sesko seems more of a project than a striker that can walk into the first team and make an immediate impact.
But anything less than that would be underwhelming.

IMO, its definitely enough to win the league as long as other things break reasonably well for us. If we have the same number of injuries and red cards, no transfers will win us the league.

IMO, Zubimendi and Rodrygo will start regularly right away. Zubimendi is a really experienced player, including in very similar systems, and Arteta clearly has been chasing him a long time. Rodrygo is just a class above Martinelli and Trossard.

Well we were one point short two seasons ago with a similar squad. So I’d say yes.

If we get a Liverpool 2025 level league then it’s a massive yes.

Disagree, on the basis that for me Gyokeres is a better signing than Sesko. Would still be a good window certainly, but I’d rate at 8/8.5

Yup.

Its easy to forget that we still have basically every important player from that team that came within a hair of winning the league.

If this summer goes as people want we’ll have added Rodrygo, Sesko, Zubimendi, Calafiori, Merino, MLS, and Nwaneri to that group.

Those seven will have replaced Zinchenko, Jorginho, Nketiah, Nelson, Vieira, Smith-Rowe, Cedric, and Elneny from the 23-24 squad.

It’ll be easily the best squad we’ve had.

I do wonder if the people who are championing Gyokeres over Sesko have actually watched enough games of him both players to be so adamant one is the better choice than the other?

I’m admittedly out of the loop with both bar the odd game so I’m not particularly bothered who we sign but feel like some people are really doubling down on Gyokeres with limited exposure to both players.

Of course none of us have, you’d have to watch both every week really and nobodies doing that. We’re all in the same boat and it’s just preference.

I’m just tired of our lack of killer instinct up front and therefore the gyok gets me excited. I agree with your previous comments that it’s not a sure bet but let’s take the lesser risk.

I’m not watching whole games of either one but having seen a bunch of Gyokeres every touch videos I tend to think Sesko has both the higher ceiling and is less risky and easier to integrate into how we play.

Gyokeres’ technical level is really questionable. The ball just doesn’t stick to him, especially when he’s being challenged and the defenders doing the challenging are much weaker and worse than those he’ll face in the PL. He also plays in a totally different kind of system to what we do with our striker. IMO, he is the riskier bet because his projection into our team and the PL is much more difficult.

Fair enough, I see the points and if sesko was 40-50m then I’d be a lot less bothered about it even if I want a guy more reliable for banging then in. I don’t think Gyokeres traits will have a problem translating to the Pl, he seems very suited.

Not many people look back on Auba’s time with disdain for what he did on the pitch before the contract, but he was actually very fucking limited outside of pace and goals. When you bang enough nobody cares, while for me sesko will be largely more of the same and put more pressure on the winger signing.

I don’t even love the idea of Rodrygo but at least if we get him I could live better with sesko as the CF.

Absolutely not

I’m just going by numbers and small highlights.

I watched that Sporting game/cup final, where he tore them a new one when he drives down the left on his lonesome. We have no-one in the squad today with that level of ability to actually kickstart a counter-attack.

I like Grealish :joy:

Why?

Grealish was great at Aston Villa but since then he’s been too inconsistent.
If Arteta has learned anything as a manager here, it’s do not buy Chelsea or Man City rejects.
Neither club need the money and they only sell to us because we’re mug enough to buy.
