Yeah but I’m only suggesting it in a traditional
4-3-3 formation where he can stay forward.
Definitely not in the current single pivot formation we have.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Saka returns.
Arteta has preferred inverted wingers but I don’t think he’s completely wedded to it. Saka and Pepe used to play together sometimes with one of them at LW. And Pep has shown that this general kind of positional play system can work fine with a natural winger like Foden or Sane on the left or Sterling on the right.
IMO, if Saka and Nwaneri are our two best forwards by a mile then Arteta will find a way to get them both in the team and that almost certainly means as wingers. Nwaneri might be able to play striker in a pinch but if we buy one this summer he won’t have many opportunities there with both the new guy and Havertz.
As good as Saka is, I think there’s still an aspect of his game he isn’t fully utilizing yet, and that’s something that can truly set him apart from the likes of Yamal, Foden and Palmer.
Not asking him to do a Cristiano Ronaldo transition but he absolutely has the tools to become a much bigger threat in the box. Salah is another good reference.
Even Jorginho mentioned it recently when he was interviewed by Rio:
Why would it set him apart?
Those guys barring Yamal are better goal scorers and I’d say in the years to come Yamal can potentially unlock that as well.
I think Saka’s physical profile can allow him to become a bigger threat in the box.
And yes, I agree on that Yamal has that capacity as well. Don’t think he’ll make that transition soon though.
Annoyed that I didn’t think of him earlier but the way Raphinha adjusted to Yamal is also a great reference on how to handle the Saka/Nwaneri conundrum.
I think a less position-based approach is the way forward. Nwaneri, Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli are all able to switch around and cause havoc.
It is still early for Nwaneri. Obviously he is supremely talented, but he should be seen as Fabio Vie*** replacement for now. I’m suggesting the two have had a similar impact at the club but in terms of squad position: hardly used backed up to Odegaard and 4th choice (at best) wide option.
We still need a winger who is close to Saka in terms of status and or likely output. Nwaneri may become this but next year is too early to expect it.
Martinelli has lost his mojo, Trossard may leave and Jesus is consistently walking wounded. Next season, I want Nwaneri on the fringes of the behind Saka and Odegaard. We need some star power upfront and Nico Williams and Sesko do not provide it. Open your wallet Stanley.
Please
Engagement farming. Wouldn’t be able to register him until the summer. By then he’d be a pointless signing.
That ship has sailed. Was a brilliant forward. Doubt he’s even good now. I’d rather play Nwaneri upfront than take a punt that Firminho is still at elite, Prem level and motivated to shoot down Liverpool.
Why not?
A player becoming a free agent outside of a transfer window is only eligible to be registered at the start of the next one.
Where is that from? I searched for a while and couldn’t find a specific rule on it unless they were released by another prem club.
Because by the summer window players are out of contract, and after the close of the window they’re still eligible to be signed.
@Starboy I’ll see if I can find the information
1st March is the usual cut-off date for signing free agents. It’s been like that for about 30 years.
