Arsenal transfers 25/26

TNAT should stick to leaking lineups.

I don’t trust these “sources” at all either, just wanted to point out that I never really believed Nico was a dead case for us.

I think we still have him on our radar as long as there are any chances left to do this deal.

Obviously not much in it yet, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it happens.

Just confirms what I said

🚨 JUST IN from @charles_watts:

“Nobody ever told me that the interest in Nico Williams was over, he's a player Arsenal absolutely love.

He has a release clause that can be activated at any time, I haven’t heard anything is “imminent,” but it was the same with Thomas Partey.” pic.twitter.com/SfeaO5sNlG

The other factor that makes this maybe plausible is that given Athletic Club’s unusual Basque only transfer policy, its not like they need to line up a replacement or time to do so. They’re almost certainly going to promote from within anyway so its not really an issue for them if it happens in the last week of the window.

I want to believe. At the same time, if we get Merino in, that’s about 80m between him and Calafiori, with the addition of a potential 50m or so from Eddie and ESR being sold, which is a pretty minimal net spend due to them being academy guys. Nico apparently has a clause of 50m so we could be well within our powers to do that. If there’s any interest from his side, it’s an absolute no-brainer really.

If we activate the release clause there is absolutely nothing they can do. Just like Atletico with Partey.

Yeah, I’m more pointing out that he clearly has great respect for Athletic Club and wouldn’t want to fuck them over…but leaving in the last week really wouldn’t hurt them in the same way it would for other clubs in this situation.

I think you guys are forgetting the aspect of the player. He’ll have to agree to a move.

The lad wants to stay there for at least another year. They made a big deal out of him getting the #10 recently.

I think it’s nore likely we return next summer for him.

Yeah, that’s why I said it has like a 10% chance of happening. I don’t think his intentions are crystal clear because he hasn’t said it directly. But if you’re betting on the outcome its obviously most likely that he stays.

Has he explicitly said this?

I think the rumblings of Barca’s interest has stopped him from fully committing to anything. They cannot afford him anyway.

I’m not getting roped into the #belief antics regarding Nico Williams.

Tbf, it was a shock surprise to me that we managed to bag Ozil and Partey when we did. It’s possible for us to get him, but I’m keeping my expectations super low if not, nonexistent regarding him

These aggregators are garbage they take everything TNAT says completely out of context, especially bottomcorner they’re posting just for the interactions.

Bilbao just gave him the #10 jersey. They did a video and everything.

Doubt he’ll come.

Considering his relationship with the club and all, he probably wont do it at this stage of the window out of respect to the club and the fans, with the season already having started.

But I definitely believe that we haven’t given up on him, and could probably try to persuade him next summer, or maybe even this winter.

As long as we don’t sign anyone else of that profile, and as long as he doesn’t sign for someone else, he surely remains one of our top targets.

If we can sell Nketiah and get Ramsdale out then we might have the cash to activate the clause.

However I assume we have sounded out Williams’ agent and he’s told us he’s not interested / waiting until next season.

The clause is there - it could have been activated by anybody at any time including Chelsea who have the money to spend wherever they please. City are also flush after selling Alvarez and generally being cheating BASTARDS.

And as others have pointed out, Athletic Bilbao made a big deal of giving him the #10.

All logic and common sense says this deal is not happening for anybody this summer.

I will stay away in peace until or stein weighs in.

The only one worth listening to

These Twitter cunts are so ridiculous.

“Going to do a Thomas Partey on Nico Williams” - talk about scraping the barrel to pump out some fucking hopium for desperate Arsenal fans lol

Tbh, I think if he wanted to come here we would be our player before Merino. There were some reports about our interest during the EUROs, no?
I think he was probably one of the priorities of this summer not a luxury signing or something like that.

But him deciding to stay at Bilbao doesn’t mean the deal is off for us, as many have interpreted at the time. He just doesn’t want to move anywhere atm. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t rate Arsenal.

Seems Arteta doesn’t just want sign a squad player in this position. We can survive with Martinelli/Trossard. Seems he wants to add proper quality, and there aren’t many options as good as Nico out there atm.
