If you treat a January signing as a serious long term addition to your squad and not a stop gap signing there’s no reason it shouldn’t work.

Doesn’t that go for any window? We are not looking for targets because of injury. We are needing players because we started the season with a small squad and you would hope a strategy was put in place for this window. That we are top of the League and top 4 minimum looking assured, it’s not unreasonable to think we can bid a bit higher for the second half of the season.
Exactly the case with Evra and Vidic. Not short term fixes, but proper long term additions.

Doubt the reliability of this but it’s a player that will start for USA so it’s worth keeping an eye out. Makes International tourneys more fun I guess.

Danilo is either going to be a later you sign now or watch his value shoot to triple the value in 18 months or he will be another Sambi.
Genuinely have no idea, but I’d definitely rather he came in the summer. Not sure we can afford to blood prospects at the moment.

Danilo might be very highly talented, but does anybody trust him more than El Nenny right now? Ditto Mudryk really. Looks great in patches, but would anybody trust him more than a Trossard or Zaha?
We were vindicated in not spending for the sake of it last January - it cost us fourth but brought us Jesus, Zinchenko and a real shot at glory this year.
Sign Danilo and loan him if anything. He can replace El Messi in the summer. Saka is pretty established now. Martinelli, ESR and Mudryk as reliable forwards for a title challenge? I love the first two but I’m not convinced. We need somebody established. Luis Diaz came into a Liverpool team who already had Mane, Salah and Elliott. Jota as well.
