Ah but did dear old Mr Whittaker have the benefit of statpadding against the 5th best team in Belarus? :unai:

Perhaps not Miss Jade :unai: But just for fun, using the power of wikipedia, we can go back in time, check the results for a more accurate comparsion, removing competitions that didn’t exist back in the late 40s under Whittaker. For reference, Tom’s first game in charge was the final game of the 1946/47 season.

Whittaker’s first 50 matches were all League matches, bar 1 single FA Cup match. In this period he racked up, 24 wins, 16 draws and 10 defeats, giving him a win percentage of 48%.

In Emery’s first 50 matches, he’s achieved 32 wins, 7 draws and 11 defeats, with a win percentage of 64%. If we remove League Cup and Europa games, the number of games goes down to 35. From this pool of 35 games, Emery has 21 wins, 6 draws and 8 defeats. Winning percentage of 60%.

Ah but Mysty, why not just compare Whittaker’s stats after 35 games instead? We shall! The numbers make for very similar reading. 20 wins, 9 draws and 6 defeats, totalling in a win percentage of 57.1%.

Of course, the main difference at the end of the day is Whittaker did go on to win the League in his first season, but it’s interesting that over 70 years apart, how two completely different managers could have similar stats at the start of their Arsenal career.

Who needs OptaJoe eh?

I know right

Look at the fucking garbage we have as a squad and look at how injuries have fucked us. Holding and bellerin were doing bits for us and we were looking good but those 2 going downhave taken the core out of the defending and left us with a donkey a past it and no right back the squad is paper thin and suspensions injuries we are bare bones and we weren’t good really at full strength I don’t think it’s hard to see why we’re fucking things right now.

But if the club allows this and shows no sign of changing this, were is the fucking hope. Right now their is not one fucking sign of anything positive going forward that we are ready to progress one fucking iota.

Well what can they do until summer, they have gutted the staff and boardroom pretty much wages fucked us for Jan but we wouldn’t get anything of substance anyway…let’s see what is gonna happen in summer but don’t expect a whole bloody squad change its is gonna take years to change this shit

Have a feeling it’s going to be a very long and tough decade for the club to come. No sign that we’ll be competing for the Premier League for a very long time

This would make a neat pub quiz question.

Alexandre Lacazette became only the third player to score a brace in a European semi-final match for Arsenal, after Charlie George in the 1969-70 Fairs Cup and Steve Bould in the 1994-95 Cup Winners Cup.

Bould scored twice from CB?! Fucking hell lol

Bould scored just 8 goals during his 11 years at Arsenal, what a time to score a brace :wenger:
