The defence has been on a rotational partnerships for the whole of preseason; most likely on Sunday we will see what defence we go in to the new season with.
One about yesterday our fallbacks swap position in the first half (tomi and timber), don’t know if that would be an aspect of our game going forward who knows.
I wouldn’t be surprised if on Sunday Arteta tries something we haven’t done against City before. I can imagine him not wanting to tip our hand as to what we’ll do in the league against them.

Liverpool made the final first season back in it after only having 1 appearance in 7 seasons I think, so it’s possible.
But I suppose historically Liverpool have a rich history in the competition and the less said about ours the better.
Missed the Monaco game but from the previous ones it was the same old story with post-WC. Lapses of concentration and unforced errors leading to chances that we get punished for.
We’ll see if that continues onto the season.
I also think Mikel is trying new things
Monaco looked to me like both RB and LB were coming inside, leaving us open to counters down the width as soon as they got the ball. Put Saliba in a difficult position twice and in a league game he’d have been sent off I think.

Glad we’re not going to the USA this year, the country will be on fire by the summer, literally and metaphorically. It’s also about time our Asian supporters had a chance to see Arsenal thump Spurs.

I miss pre-season trips to Brighton (the older 4th Division version), Leyton Orient and other smaller grounds.

The worst was a few years back when we finished the preseason against Chelsea and Spurs. I seem to remember getting a big injury in one of those matches too.

I guess if these overseas friendlies between EPL teams keep the bonkers plan to play one game per season on another continent at bay, then I’m happy for these meaningless branding opportunity matches to continue.
