Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Nearly 26 and we still don’t know his best position.

Sure we do. With a club that isn’t Arsenal.

If that was intentional, well done.

Well he was part of the side who got West Brom relegated.
Very likely part of the side that gets Southampton relegated.
I’d say he’s in the wrong division going by this.

Aaron Ramsdale would beg to differ.

Ramsdale didn’t start and fail at a top club first.

Right decision to let him go. But could have got £20m for him last summer.

From who exactly?

Well maybe the summer would have been too late - thought we could have got something, but January certainly. There have been a few suitors for him since 2020. Wolves seem to be linked with a £20m move for him every season. He was even linked with Newcastle and Spurs too.

That was 3 years ago. I personally I’m a bit sick hearing about that Wolves offer.

Just because we got an offer back then doesn’t mean we could’ve gotten a similar offer in follow-up years.

We chose to retain a couple of players that year. Xhaka, Laca, Bellerin, Holding, etc.

I’d put that down to Arteta being too new at the time and naively relying on the boys after that FA Cup win. He and Edu are more ruthless now.

No but it means we should’ve taken it then because he was always average and lazy.

Was screaming at the time that it was a great offer, unbelievable we didn’t take it. Especially given Arteta and edu clearly knew how little they planned to use him afterwards.

I doubt they knew. Especially Arteta I think must have seen value in his versatility back then.

Again, both were a bit naive back then and have changed from that time. In hindsight I doubt they hand Auba that contract either.

Its over

Blockquote“The trophy wins would probably be the best moments for me, obviously some of the domestic seasons weren’t so great but at least I got to win some trophies with the club that I love. The FA Cup final was a fantastic day that will always stick in my mind, and I was happy to be a part of the team that won it.”

Blockquote “I’ll always be here to support the team and the boys and hopefully they can win something in the future. For any supporters out there, just be true to the team. They’ve come a very, very long way this season and it’s been fantastic to watch. Once a Gunner, always a Gunner!”

There was lots of opportunities to get a fee for him. I wonder if he signs on for life in the championship with Southampton. I’m not reading the actual article to find out

Good luck to him anyway.

Saw somewhere there was lots of interest from the PL and Bundesliga.

It’s a bit expected due to his versatility. Doubt any of them can guarantee him consistent game time though.

Seeing as he now has a family, I think he’ll take the best offer(financially) that comes his way.

Never fulfilled his potential.

Ironically, the way the team has developed would have been perfect for him in theory as a sort of right sided Zinchenko option who played RB defensively and then joined into midfield. He didn’t have the same technical level but would have brought more athleticism to the role. But I doubt he ever would have learned the tactical discipline and reading of the game to do it.

I don’t think he was ever dedicated enough to his craft and career.
