Aaron Ramsdale

Bayern have been mentioned in the past.

That would be a great move for him.

Please don’t leave us with Raya :face_with_peeking_eye:

My issue is that same ruthlessness isn’t extended to other certain members of the team, should be one rill for all not for your keeper who actually is quite good.

I really think they got something special in Caoimhin Kelleher and he has potential to be one of the best GK’s in the world. I think many big clubs will have their eyes on him if he doesn’t stay at Liverpool.

I definitely haven’t been a fan of the way he’s dealt with the GK stuff when he speaks to the media. Ramsdale has been a great player for the club, but it’s clear Arteta is doing his selective ruthlessness once again and doesn’t fancy him as Arsenal’s GK. But all these smart arse answers and talking bullshit really about everyone getting a fair chance. It’s crap and it’s going to backfire on him one day, maybe not now but he’s one of those managers for me that will do something that will have a team turn on him. Maybe won’t happen at this club, it will as his career moves on.

It was so unnecessary too. All he had to say was ā€œDavid is here on loan, we want to see what he can bring to the team and we’re very happy he’s hereā€ or something similarly anodyne. I’m as much of a fan of players and coaches showing their personalities in interviews and press appearances as the next guy, but Arteta’s whole shtick of wanting to sub keepers and his biggest regret not being able to sub a keeper was just so obviously bullshit.

Could it be another Ozil/Auba situation?

Something happened behind the scene and pissed off Arteta?

Oh, I completely agree. He has been ruthless with Ramsdale and we will never know because of the injury to him, but it looked as though Timber was reasy to take Zinchenkos place.

Havertz won’t get two seasons to prove himself either.

My worry is that Arteta has lost faith in Ramsdale so Raya will start regardless.

He forced himself to lose faith in him because Rajya became available. You don’t give contracts to players you lose faith in, granted it’s a good strategy to maintain player value.

If we fuck up this man who, last season, was absolutely fine with potential for greatness, I will be furious.

This is a clear sign that Arteta has Mourinho tendencies. Poor man management. Overplaying Saka, treating Rammers like shit. Also has suspect Talent ID too, Havertz will never come good here.

I really think it as simple as Arteta kept telling Ramsdale how he wanted him to play - Ramsdale wasn’t comfortable and so would not play as high up the pitch as Arteta wanted and Ramsdale thought he had found a compromise, where Arteta was not willing to compromise…End result is Arteta will get his way, either with the player we have or he will be replaced.

Playing out from the back - Arteta is willing to concede goals to have the keeper play out from the back - he clearly feels the advantage gained from absorbing the press and building from the back outweighs the advantage gained from getting it right.

I personally prefer Ramsdale (not sure exactly why, because I don’t think there is much difference between the two), but Arteta has a clear vision and will not compromise and I can accept that.

What a desire to win trophies - if so, GREAT!

This is shit certain fans spout! It is clear the squad have fully bought into Arteta, you don’t get that from poor man management - in fact Ramsdale in an interview praised Arteta for the relationships he has built within the squad…

Ferguson fell out with numerous players over the years, was he a shit man manager?

Pep fell out with Hart, Eto’o, Zlatan, Cancelo…so is he a shit man manager?

As for overplaying Saka - According to (https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/) Saka played 3,744 minutes last season with Arsenal. When Liverpool won the league in 19/20, Salah played 4,091 minutes, were you saying Klopp was overplaying Salah? Last season Salah played 4,301 minutes with Liverpool, Klopp must shit!

Saka - 2022/23 Season:

Salah - 2022/23 Season:

Name a manager that got all their singings spot on. Overall Arteta has done well.

Fergusson bought Kleberson, Forlan and others. Must have suspect talent ID!

Pep signed Kalvin Philips, Danilo, Nolito, he must have suspect talent ID!

I do think this whole goalkeeping saga will be our undoing, mate. The fanbase looking out for a mistake from Ramsdale. If not Ramsdale, then Raya. And so it continues.

The GK position wasn’t crying out for a MASSIVE upgrade. We haven’t got a massive upgrade in Raya, either. Those in the Raya camp will probably say he’s better, but not leagues ahead.

We’ve kinda overlooked more important positions here like striker, possibly LB and a long term replacement for Partey (although I can appreciate the latter has been a problem that’s only really come to a head this last couple of months).

Replacement goalkeeper seasons (much like the one where we signed Cech and Cech only) need to carry a health warning.

I don’t disagree and I think Arteta would have been better off coming out and saying Ramsdale has not been playing the way I told him to and so I have brought Raya in on loan to give competition and hopefully encourage Ramsdale to learn and develop and start playing more the way I want, etc.

As for other areas needing improvement, I think that is true, but we spent 9/10ths of fuck all on Raya, so not like it broke the bank. For the money committed to Raya, we were struggling to buy a stiker’s left boot

Very good point.

If Raya does continue to shit the bed, then we can just give him back to Brentford. I just hope Arteta isn’t as stubborn in keeping him (and hoping he’ll come good) as he is in not reinstating Ramsdale.

Why do you always pull apart my posts outside of context and go to absolute extremes when it’s clear that’s not the point I’m making?

Let’s take it bit by bit:

We’re talking about player management, not desire to win. I love his shared desire to win.

You think it’s good to have a manager that treats players the way Juan Mata and Pogba got treated?

Nobody in this forum wanted Mourinho here when he was available.

Well he’s not going to say the opposite now is he? Especially, when he’s fighting for his place. Look what’s happened to Sancho w/ETH

There is no doubt whatsoever that Pep has questionable man management. Have you seen the way he’s been treating Haaland in the early part of this season? Is that a good man manager to you lol? Abusing your players on the pitch at half-time, even though you’re winning because of the person you’re shouting at?

Does Salah get kicked at the same rate that Saka does? Does he also not get any protection from the refs? If Salah gets injured they have replacements, if Saka gets injured who do we have? Nelson

Comparing Salah’s minutes from 19/20 to Saka’s 22/23 is apples to oranges.

Saka played like 80+ consecutive games, this spans 2+ seasons. Playing every fucking game, every week. Plus international games. No rest.

Anyone who buys Kalvin Phillips and doesn’t play him for 1.5 years, has suspect talent ID in my book. Just a waste of money for no reason.

Arteta having Mourinho tendencies isn’t anything new. It’s been evident since the start.

One of the biggest complaints people had with Wenger was that as good as he used to be, he grrw soft in the end.
Football at the top level and with the current standards requires you to be ruthless.

If it makes you feel any better, Pep is exactly the same way. In fact, I would argue Pep is even more ruthless than Mou.

Cos you post tons of extreme takes mostly negative (outside of our wins) off whims as opposed to any stats or evidence.

Ramsdale comment was before he was dropped and he made it again when he let us know about the loss of the pregnancy.

If Pep is a shit man manager as you clearly feel, then I am more than happy that Arteta is too.

Saka and Salah both play RW. Salah played more minutes in every season since 18/19 than Saka did in 21/22 or 22/23 seasons.
Salah:
18/19 = 4,324
19/20 = 4,091
20/21 = 4,178
21/22 = 4,014
22/23 = 4,301

Saka
21/22 = 3.353
22/23 = 3,744

If that is not enough for you Jarrod Bowen played over 4,000 minutes in both the 21/22 and 22/23 seasons.

Saka has had no injuries that would hint at playing too many minutes (did look tired/fatigued in games last season but Arteta and the medical team have actual statistics and measurements to know this for a fact). You are using a feeling with no evidential basis other than other fans incl. on here ā€œfeelā€ he was overplayed, when if you actually look at his minutes there are other players with even more minutes.
