Aaron Ramsdale

Hearing the deal is 24m + 6m in add ons

I can only understand this if we have a huge amount of money and are going to have a big rest of the window.

If its coming at the expense of buying a CAM or having the financial leeway to send Laca to the moon and getting a new striker instead, its just madness.

White + Ramsdale = $80 million

:gabriel:

It’s almost as if Edu/Arteta have no idea of what they are doing or a plan.

No one else was in for either player and Arsenal paying above market is really poor business.

I guess Ramsdale will get lots of chances to work on his saves when the opposition midfield blows through that Xhaka/Elney pivot. :face_vomiting:

Tbf ive always said I don’t mind Ramsdale being signed as a back up. I don’t even mind him being a long term signing. The price tag really puts me off. 30m is a lot for a player who has been relegated twice in 2 seasons

There’s the Bell seal of approval

Me too. And White might be a tidy player.

The issue is paying way above market for them, especially when there is glaring holes in the lineup. The most pressing need of an attacking mid hasn’t been addressed.

Well Kepa is number 1. It won’t take Ramsdale long to reach his dizzy heights.

He’s woeful. Trust me on this, actually causes me physical and mental pain watching him. He’s like a more T-Rex arm version of Pickford and you would nearly think that’s not possible.

I realize that there was a strong case to keep Leno over Martinez (at the time), but Martinez is the one player Edu has been able to sell since running transfers.

Is Ramsdale ā€œbetterā€ than Martinez? Paying more for Ramsdale than Martinez was sold for is comical.

It’s almost amazing (if it wasn’t so infuriating or sad) that this club literally has made the wrong decision nearly every time on a player over the last 5 seasons (whether to sell, extend, etc). :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

CAM and forwards clearly not important to a horrible attacking side either

Well, he continues to misuse Auba, and his big plan for the attack is to put it all on ESR shoulders since Ode isn’t happening and Leicester would rightly tell Arsenal to piss off when Edu makes a desperation bid after the team is in a hole by the end of the window.

Clearly, as others have speculated, Arteta has damn near 0 pressure to move towards the top 6 this season. Unless it gets ugly at home games with the fans or he repeats the diabolical run of last fall, he ain’t going anywhere.

I guess Arteta’s plan is to play slow, methodical build up football and lump something into the box (forgetting that this isn’t Auba nor Laca’s style of play). This low success approach that Arteta prefers will continue to have Arsenal’s margin to win games be razor thin against most opponents.

White and Ramsdale better be much more than they have shown or Arsenal will be in 10th - 12th again.

So, what’s the point and why do I care so much?

I haven’t seen much of Ramsdale if I’m honest.

What is it exactly that makes him a poor signing? Has he made lots of mistakes during his time at Sheffield? Is he poor at playing from the back?

I hope that this is sarcasm. Guy is a run of the mill keeper that the club is grotesquely overpaying for.

Haha no sarcasm, genuinely asking. I never really noticed him and barely watched any Sheffield games last season or before.
