Darren Burgess

No. He’s a fitness (strength and conditioning) coach.

He is the head of performance; but he is a specialist in fitness and conditioning, so getting another coach is logical and a good move

Who gave any sort of verdict about this move ? @Ocke asked if we didn’t add a coach two years ago.

I commented on the move not to incite any follow up comment; clearly you have something to prove.

BUMP

More outgoing. Not huge disaster in isolation but with the amount change we’re experiencing at the club behind the scenes such with Wenger, Gazidis, Mislintat, Forsythe and now Burgess…

Not sure if this means anything tbh. It’s difficult for us for see the actual worth of people in these roles.

Arsenal were consistently posting high numbers in regards to kilometres run per game throughout the season. Fitness came under his umbrella so his role in that is significant.

Aussie Gunner? Is he your brother @Aussiegooner

Arsenal had a "director of high performance?

Wow.
You would never have noticed.

Now that Emery is the head coach I don’t expect that to change without Burgess.

So Shad stays then. Judging by the wording he’ll take over the role of Burgess.

Burgess sacked? I think Ornstein may be wrong given how Burgess’s contract was up but incredible if true. I wonder what reasoning Arsenal would have for sacking him.

Emery may want that. Whether the players are able to deliver those high numbers on a consistent basis like they did last year is the bigger question.

“Good ebening, Meester Bur-gess… you leave now.”

You think head coaches are only responsible for tactical and technical preparation? It’s not unlikely at all Emery will, and has, these lot doing a lot more physical training in comparison with Wenger.

Emery and his team no doubt have a part in the fitness procedures carried out at Arsenal but Burgess has more responsibilities in that aspects as the video of him explaining his role shows.

If he was sacked then there’s probably been some sort of disagreement behind the scenes with how things are being run. That would necessitate some sort of change in how things are carried out on Burgess’s side. How that will affect the team is what we’ll find out.

As I’ve said before, I’m not sure he’s been sacked but rather come to the end of his contract but we’ll see.

EDIT: Burgess had 1 year left on his contract with Arsenal according to James Benge.

Sorry MidfieldMaestro. More Arsenic tweets. Article says no more than the tweet so no need to click on the Daily Mail link ;–)

So we’re playing the Blame Everyone But Emery game.

Cool.
