The Proper Way to wear a Poppy

Some say it should never be worn before 1st November, or after the 11th (Armistice Day)

Some say men wear it on the left, and Women on the right

Some say the leaf should be on Top, Some on the bottom

The Correct Way is to wear it with Pride.

I wear mine with pride in remembrance to my Grandpa who was a prisoner of war. I always remember seeing his arm branded with a tattoo of numbers, his number in there, no longer a person, a number on a list.

He was a great grandpa, he taught me all about dipping bread in tomato soup and he always used to fall asleep on the sofa (he had narcolepsy). He died from a burst appendix of all things when i was 5.

Agreed. I've always bought at least one. Every year.

Have seen a few poppies without the little green leaf. What's that about?

The design of poppy like we have on the Arsenal shirt each year, has a different shape petal and no leaf. These are Scottish emblems and I'm not sure why we don't use the British Legion version.

The poppy shop opened last week but I thought it was too early to buy one. I'll get one this weekend so that I wear in the week leading up to Remembrance Day. The 11th is a Sunday this year too.

I got a little pin badge poppy today and got poppy wristbands for the children, they love those plastic wristband things...

I'm going to order one of these i think, it won't arrive in time for this year but i can wear it all year round Respect for troops isn't just on 11th November

I've got one of those wristbands, got it last year but it's a bit big and I started to wear it this week but didn't like it much. Will probably just wear it on Sunday. Paper poppy on whatever I'm wearing each day, pin badge poppy on my jacket.

You'll have to forgive me for being incredibly ignorant but is this a UK thing or do other Commonwealth countries get in on the act?

Canada certainly do it too, pretty sure Aus & NZ as well, and India.

Yep, we do it here in New Zealand. It's certainly not a UK only thing.
