It's a bit of a flawed and contradicting business model if his wages are based on our revenues, which for our case, 2/3 comes from selling our best players. Surely they are dis-incentivized in re-investing the money we gain to the squad if the more they save, the more they earn

Well tell Arsene I'll do it for half of that as the job basically does itself anyway.

If i remember right, he is one of the best in the business.
Used to look after entire MLS before joining us.

It's only that we have firm commercial contracts in place that he is restricted in his efforts.

    and

After 2013-14 season, i believe we will see Arsenal make greater leaps in terms of commercial revenue generation.

Seems like a bit of contradiction there and he is seemingly earning a lot of that money then even though those commercial contracts were already in place before he arrived.

Bigger deals in terms of stadium naming rights, shirt sponsor, kit sponsor were tied up; but we have negotiated deals with Carlsberg, Indesit, Betsson, Bharti Airtel and Malta Guinness. Also renegotiated with Citroen & Thomas Cook.
Plus we began Asia tours. Plus several tie-ups with academies around the globe.

Much of that should be credited to
Chief Commercial Officer, Tom Fox; i admit.

But the point is Kroenke knows how much Gazidis has contributed and the bonus indicate that he thinks he has done a great job last year.

    that's better trion. i knew you'd expand.
agree that the footballers are on 2 or 3 times as much and not a word is said. if you took the hours a footballer worked into consideration against their wages (diaby) it would make gazardis look like a pauper.

Just because footballers are on stupid money it doesn't justify everyone else should be though.

Just want to add one silly little point.
If i were a CEO & part of my job would be to negotiate player contracts, i would be really jealous if these dumb fucks, who just run around, earned more than me.

    (1) Nothing bar having the job.
    (2) What? How?
    (3) We will have one of the biggest in the coming years.
    (4) Winning trophies simply does not fit into Gazidis remit (rightly or wrongly)
    (5) I'd like to know that too.

I'd do it for 5% of what he's getting but I don't think these jobs generally go to the lowest bidder...

Most of the time these bonuses are just written into the contracts and they get the bonsuses simply for holding the job rather than achieving anything in particular but he would certainly have had his hand in those deals to some extent you would imagine.

    1. Our profits have been down to property development which will stop and almost has and player sales. Our business model relies selling players. Completley underlined by the fact if you take out our profit in the transfer market we run at an operating loss. Relying on selling your assets each year is in my eyes not sustainable.Of the field our business struggles to break even.

    2. In the last three years our commerical revenue has increased 4mill£ which is less then what we have paid gazidis over the same period. Our shirt sponsorship is up for renewal in a couple years which SHOULD add a yearly increase. But then lets do a comparison. In 2011 we extended our deal with nike for three years, they pay us 8mill£ a year this is compared to 25.4mill Nike pay United or 25million warrior sports pay liverpool. WHAT THE FUCK.

The property profit was only ever a bonus and never seen as anything else and has mainly been used to pay down debts. They don't form part of the clubs ongoing business model. I don't think the business does struggle to break even without player sales but if you can show me otherwise...I have looked through the accounts the last few years (a while ago, so don't remember specifics) but I definitely don't remember thinking we'd be fucked if we weren't selling players all the time.

The Nike deal was extended because the contract we had with them said they could do so. It was a no brainer for them and (speculating here now) would probably have cost an absolute and up front fortune for us to get out of. It still was an increase from our previous deal with them though and given that we also get 3 million a year from Carlsberg now and also signed better deals with Citreon and brought in new partners in Indesit I don't think your 4 million figure is correct.

Make yourself a cuppa and read this.
    http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/
Its long but its the best read out there. Breaks up the finances so we can understand them but still goes into heaps of detail. If your interested in how our clubs fares financially this is a 10/10. I cant give enough praise to swiss ramble.

I do like Mr Ramble and will read that another time but ultimately I'm pretty convinced we will grow revenue in years to come and I don't share your concerns above.
