    Cool picture.

I think at this stage a general g4e thread is warranted rather than all these new threads.

    The Webb Space Telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope is NASA's next orbiting observatory and the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. A tennis court-sized telescope orbiting far beyond Earth's moon, Webb will detect infrared radiation and be capable of seeing in that wavelength as well as Hubble sees in visible light.
Infrared vision is vital to our understanding of the universe. The furthest objects we can detect are seen in infrared light, cooler objects that would otherwise be invisible emit infrared, and infrared light pierces clouds of dust, allowing us to see into their depths. Webb will unleash a torrent of new discoveries, opening the door to a part of the universe that has just begun to take shape under humanity's observations.
Right now, scientists and engineers are piecing Webb together, creating through cutting-edge technology an innovative observatory that not only withstands intense cold, but uses it to its advantage; an observatory that folds up inside a rocket for launch and unfurls like a butterfly opening its wings upon nearing its orbit. Later this decade, the Webb telescope will launch into space, sailing to the distant, isolated orbit where it will begin its quest. Supernovae and black holes, baby galaxies and planets' potential for supporting life — Webb will help reveal the answers to some of the biggest mysteries of astronomy.

The Universe is around 14 billion years old, probably older.

In Hubble's day he calculated it to only 1.9 billion. In a further century we're going to know so much more.
A traditional Wenger supporter that finally lost patience after the League Cup debacle vs Bradford, 11/12/12

I no longer believe with enough conviction that:-

    - Wenger believes in his players enough to motivate them
    - The players believe in Wenger enough to be motivated by him

and for these two reasons alone, it's time to say thanks for the wonderful memories Arsene but let us part ways in the summer.

Rather than start a new thread i thought i would just post "NASA Photographs a Tendril-Like Solar Eruption in Stunning Detail" here.

Maybe we could have a sub-forum for all this kind of stuff?

I think aliens most certainly do exist. I also believe out there space and time is very similar to the way red dwarf thinks things out like numerous copies of ourselves living different lives and time travel to the past and future a possibility

    But aliens almost certainly exist

Oh I am in total agreement with you I2004 and g4e. Just look at the number of galaxies in that tiny field, then think about traveling to the nearest of those galaxies, and taking another telescopic picture of the same size area and seeing the same amount of galaxies from that picture. Then infinitize that. Amazing to think about.

The chances of your alternate self doing the exact same thing you are right now, but left handed (if your a righty), is actually 100% when we are dealing with infinity.

the chances of an infinite amount of you doing the same thing with your right hand and an infinite amount of you do it with your left hand is 100%. Infinite doesn't do us any real favors Its possible the universe is infinite but possible it isnt. It could just be very large and there is alot of people who think there is evidence for that. I personally favor that interpretation but then again I embrasse model dependent realism which alot of people disagree with
