well we were all asking the question "who?" when an unknown french man from Japanese football took over us many years back. You dont need an established name to take us over. Like Arsene wenger in his early days Im sure there are unknown genius managers out there... and even if you do want an established name there is always managers willing to jump ship or who are out of work at the moment. And it cant be argued against them that they havent won nothing/much because we under our current manager have won fuck all in seven years and embarresed ourselves on numerous occassions in big moments in the process!!!!!

LOL, Wenger signs Podolski,Giroud and M'Vila and you want him to go. Brilliant.

and you claim you could have lead the team to 3rd place this year?? lol, keep embarrassing yourself.

Change the name of this thread to "win a trophy" and I think we have a pretty good, serious discussion here.

It won't be anything new but Van Persie's contract I think is first and foremost that's needed here. If we get that, we have Giroud (apparently?) and Podolski as reinforcements in attack and HOPEFULLY M'vila to come, though that's looking.. bleak. It's not looking as certain as it was looking, but let's hope it happens. That should be the single most aid in conceding less goals. It's our midfield and overall system of play that's at fault for so many GA, not our defenders. Koscielny is a brilliant defender, Vermaelen is a very good CB too, but they can't do it all. I'd love a world-class left-back, but we're never gonna get one, so I'm content with Gibbs. Sagna is very good too so it's alright.

We're really not THAT far. One other thing that's very important though is tactics and formations. Wenger play a 4-2-3-1 or whatever you wanna call it without changing it and has the same gamestyle against FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, Tottenham Shitspur, Stoke City or Ipswich Town. Well, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Barcelona could get away with it, but not even they do it any more because they get found out. We need to be able to adjust, go 4-4-2 sometimes, play two strikers, play a more attacking midfield, play a more defensive midfield.. but I fear that won't come with Wenger so that part we're fucked with. Let's hope the other part makes up for it and we might just be able to lift the Capital One Cup or better yet the FA Cup. :P I wouldn't count on winning the league, though with some luck (Chelsea ugh) we might be able to the UEFA Champions League..?

Have you ever answered the "but who" question yourself? Other than with some BS about unknowns?

Arsenal are an entirely different animal to the club Wenger walked in the door of 16 years ago and to be honest if an unknown was to be appointed I think it would only take 2 or 3 bad results before there would be booing from the stands and the club would be left totally destabilised. In a way to hand the reigns of this club to a manager who was either unproven or completely unknown would be a bit irresponsible in my opinion

I don't think Wenger is infallible (anymore ) and I don't think he is irreplaceable but it always amuses me that the first step people who want him gone fall down on is naming who they want as his replacement.

How does signing a few players make any difference to how good a manager you are? And how are they good signings if we don't know who they're replacing because if Giroud is van Persie's replacement then it's a terrible signing. We haven't even signed 2 of those players yet and even if we do, none of them are unknowns or exceptional pieces of scouting and I don't think Wenger has any part of why they're coming, they're coming to join Arsenal, the team that finished 3rd in the league and plays in the champions league, they'd still want to come if another decent manager was here.

And he didn't say that at all, you're just embarrassing yourself.

Podolski himself said he joined when Wenger called him. He didn't even see the grounds when he signed. M'Vila referred to Wenger when talking about Arsenal too.

Wenger is a coach players want to play for. As for his resume, 17 out of 17 years in the top 4 is pretty damn impressive.

Acting like he is easily replaced is stupid or "not thinking Wenger has any part of why players are joining Arsenal the the team that finished 3rd in the league and plays in the champions league" is embarrassing.

It's not just a case of "But who?" it's a case of "Who can come in and improve things with the same restrictions as Wenger?" Because it always seems to be assumed that with Wenger gone we would some how be spending more money or paying more wages when that just isn't the case. The clubs structure comes from the top Wenger going isn't going to change the way the club is run and if you can find a manager that can work under those restrictions and have the same consistency as Wenger then I suggest you apply for a job at a premiership club as 90% of them would take our level of success in a heartbeat.

Even with the signings of giroud, podolski and mvila as well as keeping rvp our squad will still probally be the 3/4 best in the league.

I think with that kind of attacking power we would be able to smash the smaller clubs, then its just a matter of showing up against the big boys which we've done better at the last couple of years amazingly (the 8-2 aside).

I think that we could easily get to 85 points with a +50 GD and that's in with a shot. Same old story with us though, can't have these long, long injuries to our defenders.

    Top post mate.

Wenger has done pretty dam well with the resources he's had over the years. Of course he's made a few mistakes (Cesc, Nasri, Flamini, Hleb, being stubborn) but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Look at our club before Wenger arrived, Wenger has helped us become a top club by easing the transition to a new stadium, instilling a policy of promoting from the academy and being financially healthy. These 3 ingredients are the key to our success In my opinion.
“I’ve never understood people who say 'I’m no good at this or that’. I simply cannot understand the idea of settling for what you have or for who you are.”

"I am a normal human being with weaknesses. This job can be like quicksand when you lose and it is hard to always be positive when you are losing games."
