Just because those two didn't score for a while it doesn't mean it has any bearing on Giroud's Arsenal career so it's pointless saying it.

That's not people saying he's going to be the next Thierry Henrey or Dennis Bergkamp though, that's people saying stop being such a whinny bitch about Giroud not scoring 37 goals in his first 6-7 appearances because some of the greatest players to ever wear the Arsenal strip took time to get to the level they eventually reached.

@TheDoctor I can't speak for others and their motives for bringing up these stats but I would assume they're merely commenting that some of our greatest ever players took time to score their first goal, and with that in mind, it's too early to be writing Giroud off (which plenty of people already have).

He is the sort of striker who thrives on getting himself in the right place at the right time.....he just needs the service and some time and the goals will come.....for evidence of this, go to the Santo Cazorla thread, watch the gif of his goal....and watch who it is running in from the right of the screen to capitalise on any parry by the keeper....

Sorry, but to disregard girouds ability is just stupid! He orchestrated his goal perfectly, start to finish and smashed it when he released Theo to break the deadlock.

Genuinely pleased that he scored today regardless of whether it was a tap in (and I have to admit I think that's a bit harsh) but would love to see him score with a header too.

What I really like about him though is that he doesn't hide or go missing when he's er, missing.

Giroud was great today although he has been good in other games as well but just hadnt had the assists or goals to top it off. I think the best thing Arsenal fans can do is to not get on his back and give him time. He will come good, he has too much quality to not come good. He is good in the air, holds the ball up well, is skillful and intelligent. He gets into good positions and it is just a matter of time in my opinion before everything fits into place.

I am glad we started with him, we look so much more dynamic with him upfront.

Podolski has the right idea. If you watch Giroud's Montpelier highlights he scored a lot of goals similar to the one he scored today. Very good in the 'sweaty' goals department.

The fact that he was on the same wavelength for Cazorla's pass late on is very encouraging.

Indeed. Our best option for the central striking position.

Just watched the highlights, so happy to see him score his first prem goal for Arsenal! I don't think it's fair to say it was a simple tap in, at first when you look at the goal it could be mistaken for a simple tap in but when you see the replay you can see it was actually a good taken, quality goal. He had to connect with the ball well with the way his body was falling, use his strength to reach it and had to aim it just right or it could have quite easily gone off target.

There is a lot to admire about his overall game, so while not getting the goals he has made up for elsewhere. He scored a good goal in the game and as the season goes on I can see him scoring many more goals because of how good the rest of his play is and I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

    Come on Giroud!

Even when he didn't score in the other games I thought we played better as a team with him in the side. I am glad he scored today, hopefully many goals will follow!
