Game of Thrones (TV Series talk only)

This just aired here in the States on HBO. If you didn't read the books, it's like Lord of the Rings for adults. First episode shows how superb the production really is, loved it!

thanks I am downloading it right now!

edit: people talked about this book and that the tv series are being filmed.
I was hoping to read the book first, as I am big LOTR fan this would be music to my ears, IMDB rating so far is 9.5/10.

    A must to watch!

Watched the first episode. Was okay, seemed to have a bit of a boring storyline though. Definitely an 18+ by the way, gore and sex like Spartacus.

Hassan, read the books. The storyline is anything but boring, trust me.
Someone changed my title just under my name! Awesome! Now how do I change the title to "Not gonna happen"?

The books start slowly, because there are so many characters to build up, but once it gets going it's really an epic series.

If you like audiobooks, then they are well worth it. The guy who does the narration has some versatile skills doing voices

just what I wanted to say, but couldnt bother to explain in english!

I kind of expected to start slowly, couse every book of such kind starts like that. Now I know it is going to be brilliant, not just some action pack crap!

I never know whether to read the book or watch the show/film version first.

Reading the book first will be great, but the enjoyment from the show/film will be hugely diminished and you know what happens or will be disappointed by what they might have changed or left out.

Watching the show/film first means I will probably enjoy it while it lasts, but then will have no drive to then read the book because I know what happens (for the most part).

    Its a conundrum.

Don't tend to read many fiction stories so I think I'll stick to watching the show. I'm only basing it from the first episode, I'll take your word for it to get progressively better.

I always read the book first if possible. You really get to know the characters that way, which for me makes the screen version better.

I always read the book first, it gives you such a great advantage.

Like for example, there's a few things they missed out in the first episode and my mum watched it with me but she was left completely dumbfounded at a lot of the things in there which they haven't explained in detail or just straight off ignored.

I see where you're coming from, but I think it's a bit exciting knowing what happens but having it seen depicted on the screen - just to see how different it is from my own imaginings and interpretation.

Thing is, the book has so much internal dialogue and references to things that have happened in the past, which makes watching it even better.
