SWGooner & Zaphod, I think you guys have inspired me to take up photography as a hobby. Do you know any websites that are good for a noobie to gain some info? Only camera I've ever used is the one on my samsung. Is there any camera you would recommend for a beginner?

A 'bridge' camera with a manual mode is the best place to start. I started serious photography with a Panasonic Lumix with a 12x zoom. Today's models have 18x zooms and are about £300. To start out with, a bridge camera is a better bet than an SLR as you get a nice long zoom range and more than enough picture quality to get a taste for it.
A typical bridge camera looks like this.
That's the one my Dad has and it's very, very good. (Lumix FZ18)
As for websites, some may disagree, but I never read anything about techniques and learnt what I know from my own preference and what little tips my Dad taught me.
Personally I don't tend to go for typically composed shots as they can look a little sterile and too ordered. Photography should be an art form, so that's why I advocate shooting what you like the look of on the viewfinder and not just what someone in a book/on the web says makes good pictures.

- Yup, would agree with all that, started out with a Canon powershoot AS430 myself before moving onto the dslr. Whichever model you go with just start out with reading the manual through and master the features on the camera, practice again and again. That´s one of the benefits of digital photography, practicing is a lot easier and cheaper
I´ve always liked this site, as good a place to start as any
