Despite being a 5-0 win for Arsenal, I can't imagine last night's game is going to be one that lives a long time in the mind of supporters. The important goal of the evening, of getting a win in response to the weekend's disappointment, was accomplished fairly early in proceedings. The result never seemed in doubt even before Maroune Chamakh's opening goal early in the first half as Orient struggled to make any real impact.

As we sit here this morning by no means is the pain of the cup final gone, but partly as a natural progression from yesterday's news and partly out of sheer necessity because we have our next match tonight thoughts have to turn away from Sunday and towards the future. That future begins tonight with an FA Cup match against Leyton Orient.

I hope I don't live to regret the following words but when Orient earned this replay and added another game to our schedule it seemed like a costly ...

Good morning, I would very much like to forget about Sunday and move on but unfortunately I think it probably does merit further discussion. One way or another you can't really move past a cup final in the space of 48 hours. It would be unhealthy to dwell on the result for too long but at this point only a couple of days on from the final it's still healthy to be looking at the game and learning the lessons.

Its tough to know where to start to be honest. The bottom line is that Arsenal have lost the Carling Cup final 2-1, and the long wait for a trophy continues. I suppose you have to say well done to Birmingham in the first place, they played fantastically yesterday and though the circumstances of Arsenal's defeat are unspeakably frustrating if I ask myself the question was it unfair result then the answer has to be no.

So the day is upon us at last. A little later on Arsenal will walk out at Wembley to contest the Carling Cup final with Birmingham City. It's a golden opportunity to ensure that the infamous five season run without a trophy does not become six. It's not going to be an easy game, Birmingham will be highly motivated to do well but ultimately Arsenal should be good enough to win this one.
